Relief duty generally runs two months or more, and entails
reinforcing friendly military forces that are often in danger of
being overrun. Mercenary groups that sign on for such assignments
know they will be dropping into a war zone, to face an
enemy command that may or may not have already smashed
those they came to assist.
Under House command, the mercenaries are placed
under the direct authority of a regular military officer
designated by the employer. This designated commander
may dictate tactics and strategies to the mercenary group,
but the Force otherwise retains command integrity.
Under this arrangement, the employer assumes full legal
responsibility for the mission and the mercenaries’ conduct
during the contract, unless the employer can demonstrate
that the mercenaries willfully disobeyed the orders of
their designated commander.

Situation
An unknown force believed to be of Davion origin jumped into the system around a month ago and made landfall on the northern continent. The hostile dropships later withdrew off planet and departed via the same jumpship. However, since the dropship's departure, a series of attacks have been performed on various military targets by a force estimated at around a battalion in strength. The local Mech garrison has been heavily damaged as have their support services. Likewise, the planetary militia has been heavily damaged with a loss of about a company of mainline battle tanks as well as the effective loss of two dozen more smaller vehicles. The local forces require time to repair and refit and you have been hired to provide that breathing space.

Alright folks, saddle up and let's get this show on the road! I know it's Liao, but the money is good. And after that ass-whooping we took in our last battle, I figure it's high time we get back into it. Not any of that sitting around twiddling our thumbs shit either! We need to get our hands dirty, feel the sting of sweat in our eyes, and that ever-sweet taste of blood trickling from our mouths!

Mission Breifing
Your dropships has been burning for 2 weeks at 1G and the weight of pre-mission anxiety has set in. The techs have been checking and rechecking systems and completed munition load outs. Silence hangs in the air despite the noise of crew members performing their duties and the ever present thrum of the ships engine burning an a constant rate.
The unit has been assembled in the dropships mess which is currently doubling as a briefing room. Orders have come in from Liao Command that an escort convoy has detected a potentially hostile force with an unknown number of units on an intercept. Command has no doubt that this is the force that has been harassing them for the last few months. Despite your local commander not yet being aboard, you have been ordered to make land fall and assist the escort in repelling the unknown force. As such, it has been decided to ground the Union behind the enemy force while the Seeker carrying your support elements remains in orbit.
The landing is not anticipated to be opposed but you are ordered to be prepared. You will disembark and proceed to the designated coordinated in order to engage the OpFor. Your air assets being on station will perform a fly over before providing close air support. Light Lance will scout ahead and probe the enemy in hopes of ascertaining their number and composition. Your remaining lances will advance in an effort to engage the enemy in proper combat with support from the escort forces. As soon as you have off loaded and cleared the blast radius, the Union will left off and return to orbit to await further orders.
The terrain is untamed wilderness with scattered trees and rough, hilly terrain. You will be touching down on the day side and should have full visibility. Wind conditions are expected to be light in the area as it is currently summer in the hemisphere between monsoon seasons. Air temperature is temperate compared to Terran standard with heavy humidity.
The briefing ends with an opportunity to ask questions.

*The aero fighters were scouting ahead of the main formation when they detected two contacts climbing to altitude. Several attempts to establish intentions failed. The contacts were on an intercept course and despite changing vector several times to avoid intercept the contacts always altered to push the engagement. Weapons were readied, and the contacts designated hostile.*
"Mustang 1 to Horseman actual. We have eyes on the hostiles. From their performance profile, they appear to be a pair a Guardian-class conventional. We will clear them from the sky."
*A fast and fierce battle found lasers lighting the sky as air-to-air missiles leapt from their rails. A head-to-head pass left Mustang 1 and 2 battered with some electronics fried while the enemy fighters spiraled out of control. A second pass found caused one of the enemy to come apart and eject while his wing-man recovered control at dangerously low altitude. Mustang 2 settled into the bogies 6 as the Guardian attempted to flee at ground level and ripped the fragile aircraft apart with his lasers, forcing the pilot to eject.*
"Mustang 1 to Horseman actual. Two bogies splashed. Suffered minor damaged to armor and electronics. We are returning to base to effect repairs. Mustang 1, out."
