Isn't that a bit pointless with us submitting our movement orders before we know what others have done before our turn to move?

Good news/Bad news.

Bad news: the dropship is not landing this turn.

Good news: because the dropship did not land, the aircraft had no target to plaster with rockets.

Poor planning and forgetting on my part forced me to hold the landing 1 turn. I failed to remember the ion engine proximity damage for landing dropships. If I had landed it, it would have caused 10d6 to 12d6 to the Vulcan and Victor. Need one turn to get clear of the engine wash.

TW pg. 91 - Aerospace on Map
TW pg. 107 - Non-Aerospace units attacking airborne aerospace
SO pg. 94 - Advanced AA

Under the Aero on Map rules via the rules for AA attacks:
Range is distance from your unit to the Aero units hex (same as all other units) + 2 hexes per altitude. Ie. An Aero 10 hexes away and 5 altitudes up is a total of 20 hexes (10 + [5*2] = 20).

However, we are using the Advanced AA which states that range AND firing arc is based on the point of closest approach + 2 hex per altitude. Note: the closest approach for a unit is based on the shortest range to the aeros flight line with ties going to the hex closest to the aero's start position. Note2: If an aero flies over a unit, the hex immediately before and closest to the aero's start position is the target hex; thus, an aero that strikes you from behind would be counted as the hex directly in your rear (making you wish you had Rifleman arms). Keep in mind that under advanced AA, the aero gets a move mod = to their velocity.

Correct, everyone should be on board as soon as the DS gets to move. You won't get to move this turn if memory serves, but you may get to fire.
