Then why are you still insulting them?
I feel some need to come in at this point and offer, while it may not be needed or wanted, my partial defense against your repeated demands for proof. The reason no-one can offer this proof that you so single-mindedly desire is that we don't have access to it. All we have are rumors and heresay that indicate the new Battletech will be based off of the Mage Knight system. From this scant information we must make conjectures and inferrences on what the new game will be like. Apparently, Mage Knight does not offer many good points for the transition. I say apparently as I have avoided Mage Knight like the plauge and have no first hand experience with it. While I agree that Karagin's idea probably doesn't represent very well what the new Battletech will be like, you do have to admit that in this atmosphere of scant information, it's about as good as we can get for this early.
And just so you know, I will intentionally not post any more in this thread, to help keep the flames down.

I do? And here I thought I just wanted to see them back up their argument with something other than simple repetition of their claims.

I offered you an idea to support my opinion you seem unable or unwilling to even consider it. So what do you want since it is clear that nothing I say or anyone else is going to be looked at by you as anything but an attack on WK or your self.
If you can't give the idea I suggested a try then let's see your proof that MWDA is not MK with mechs tossed in place of the knights etc...since you like to demand proof of others, how about providing some of your own?

Talen's head throbs with pain as he listens to the heated, and wildly annoying argument. A few people rush in to help the situation, but they get tossed away like rag dolls. Ares jumps in, but finds out he is way over his head.
"Hey! All of you," Talen shouts...
OOC:
Okay...i see 2 things going on here...
1)Cadet has made the claim that Clicky Battletech will be marketed to the 12-16 year age because it is primarily based off of the MK system.
2)Camille wants some hard evidence to back u his claim...
First, a side note.
1)I claim that the new 2003 Mustang will suck because it is based on the previous year's model, which (in my opinion,) sucks like a cheap hooker. Ford MIGHT be able to make something better than the same old cheap-ass "muscle car" (as they call it), but it is pretty doubtful.
2)Camille would want hard evidence of my basis (right?) and I could say "Well, the 2002 sucked, so the 2003 will too. I could be wrong, and I could be write. The only way we'll know is to wait for the 2003 to come out, steal one, and test drive.
Back to the story at hand...
1) As a gamer I can say I am not at all impressed with MK. Its too simple to provide any real enjoyment for me, and there is no depth. Like CCGs it is a matter of who can afford the most cards.
2)WizKids DID state that our new Battletech will be SIMILIAR to MK. Now...I dont know about you...but the idea of Battletech resembling ANYTHING like MK is absolutely TERRIBLE and makes me want to kick things.
Um...yeah, I guess thats all i have to say about that.

Oh yeah...and the Ford/WizKIDs comparrison....
WK COULD make something better....but its doubtful. I mean, Burger King COULD make something better than the crap they throw at me every day, but they dont...

That, I'd accept.

Similar, yes. Exactly the same, no. The latter is what Cadet was claiming as an undeniable fact, and that is what I was asking him to prove.

I can say that I think Cadet is making an accurate prediction of fact based on the evidence already available. he is not giving Battletech the benefit of the doubt, but his hatred for what does not exist yet is based on some pretty good evidence.
Limp Bizkit will come out with a new CD...and it WILL suck! There is no denying that, right? WK will come out with a new game...and based on prior experiences with the company...it will suck too.
Anyways....i think the whole lot of you were to high strung in yor little string up there. Sit down, take some 100% natural melatonin, calm down and listen to some Yo-Yo Ma

Holy Poop, I agree with Talen. Everyone should come over to my school for Spring Weekend. We're going to have some awesome live music, some great time, and everyone on this campus has the body of a greek god, so the eye candy will be in tip top shape (and if the weather is warm, we're talking scantily clad eye candy). So rather then get all pissy and mean towards each other, lets all peace out and listen to some fine music and watch some fine whatever sex/species you're attracted too. Deal?

Sweetie,
Here's the deal:
A) MageKnight is designed amd marketed for the teens with disposible income who will waste it on the latest fad. Be it Pogs, CCGs, Collectible minatures, or whatever, MageKnight is marketed to that crowd.
2) Fads don't last forever.
3) WhizKids told us the game is going to be similar to MageKnight, including the aspect of randomly buying units and of rarity.
It doesn't take a roadmap to see that MWDA will be marketed the same way as MageKnights. And it doesn't require a Ph.D. in ecomonmics to realize that because it will be marketed the same, and will be another fad, that it simply will not be a sustaining product since it's primary customer base is so fickle.
Secondly, right from the beginning the old game with its dedicated customer base was not going to be the primary drive of Weisman. It was months before we knew anything and then it was that ClickyTech would be the directions. It was only after that, and not even directly after that, that we were told that Fanpro would be allowed to keep producing the old game.

Ouch, now I feel funny because when I first started playing and buying battletech I was a teenager (almost) with disposable income. Although my Dad did buy me a few things on holidays by my brothers request.
I for one have a problem with the collectability aspect. I like to go and photocopy or print any mech design and play any sort of battle I want, anytime.
However this new game will still be point based, like MK or WH40K. Am I wrong in assuming that battles may be fought evenly because rares will cost you more to use thus giving a player with say commons, more units? It sounds better than say, MTG, where just buying the ultra rare killer cards will help you win a alot.
All in all I think it will expose more players to the BTech universe, which again I will state is a GOOD thing.
By the way in response to an earlier post, in my experience at Cons, I've found many players who started out playing the Computer games and then moved on to our beloved minis game.
And I've also met 12 year olds who could whip the arses of many of the posters on this board, so if they market the game to that age group, so be it!

I remember a young lad named Nathan being 12 years old...even back then he could beat 90% of all players I've ever met.

Camille,
During Total Con, there was a person carrying around one of the Clicktech miniatures. I freely admit that I did not look closely enough at the mini, but it was set up like a Mage knight meduimsized mini. It had the four spin dials one on each quadrant. By the way, the mini looked kind of cool.
That doesn't mean a whole lot other than the basic structure of the game is dependant at least in part on Mage Knight. It also will tend to mean that those minis are not real customizeable (unless they offer a way to change the discs), and may mean that it leans heavily on the Mage Knight rule set.
Not offered as a proof, but as an observation.
