Do you remeber your first game? What was it like and how did you do?
My first time,I was in the Persian Gulf kicking ass on the Roosevelt and I ran into some guys playing. I asked if I could join and lucky for me this guy had a Vinticator who had a 6/7 pilot. I walked my mech on the board late since these guys had already started without me, and I took my first shot.
I had a loucust. that had it's back to me at long range. My PPC had connected in the center torso rear and I blew out the engine. the only thing that prevented me from coring him was the front armor. So my first shot was my first kill. Was I hooked, you bet!
That character went on to form my first and only merc unit.

Actually, we were supposed to play D&D that day. My bro(the DM) got sick, so Hardware pulled out his rulebook and a few minis that he had. I had seen the game played at TotalCon that year and thought it was way cool! He took a Stinger and I took the Wasp. All I remember for sure was that I lost (and lost a limb in the process). The next game I had a Wolverine and I beat him in some mech. I was hooked. My bro came down cellar feeling a bit better by the afternoon and I had to explain to him we now had a new game to play every week

My roommates girlfriend. They needed a place to play. and I was bored. So they set-up a game. And gave me the run down on how to play.
The game was on a standard map. I chose a Jenner. They both chose Commandos (Actully, She chosed, He agreed. Kinda of a hint of how the game would go) As the game started I realized that He was not really playing. But just doing what she said to do. That is when I learned that a Jenners best defense. Is it's speed. I lost of course. But I trashed one of them before the other took me out with a alpha. But I was hooked from then on.

Way way back, it was at a TotalCon at Clark University, I joined a B'tech session being run. I wanted to get my feet wet and learn the game. Someone had brought a big 3D map made from a base of foam insulation. Lots of notable players. Tom Fisher, Pinhead, Casey and some guy named Steve. Anyhow, there was a big hill in the center of the map. Our company was going to have to assault the hill since the other company was already on it. I think the Captain of the other company walked his Battlemaster up to partial cover at the peak of the hill. I fired a single LRM salvo from my Crusader. Hit him and got 12 out of 15 with two head hits.
Oh yeah, I was hooked.

Yeah, thanks Hardware. If you hadn't played in that game, I probably would've never picked it up. I would today have a lot more money and time on my hands too!
Although I probably would've spent it on D&D.

1st Ed absolutely! I've still got all my old books, does anyone still play? Har Har, yeah right. At least they somewhat immortalized it with the new HackMaster stuff. _________________ "I have lived my life trying to be a virtuous man.
