Oh! Gore came to BAE where I work early one morning during the campaign, and they have ropes set up so that the employees had to file past him and shake his hand.

I get there very early, and I think he had just gotten there cause I was only one approaching. I stepped over the ropes when I got close enough to do so, and one of his aides ran over and explained to me that the ropes were there so everyone could shake VP Al Gore's hand.

I asked, "Why the hell would I want to lower myself and do that?" and walked in.

The Aide looked as though I hit him, as did my security folks.

I tried to be nice....

You know, I can see you doing that. Heck, I wouldn't have shaken his hand either. And I just want you to know that just because we may agree on some political issues, doesn't mean we're friends!!

I'm still gonna kill you just as soon as I finish off Ken...

A word about Gore.
If the man was leadership materiel, he would have resigned the VP's job and denounced Clinton on the same day, long before his own campaign. Then he could have claimed he was his own man and not a fully owned subsidiary of Bill and Hillary and been somewhat believed. Of course since BIll handpicked the guy that runs the DNC and thus the party, Bill is still the dictator of the Democratic party.

If Gore had won, do you think for one minute he could or would ever have done a single thing in office that Bill and Hillary did not personally approve of in advance? Do you think Tom Daschel is anything but their puppet on a string?

Now for Nukes.

And what about now? Have you noticed that most of the nations of the world are ruled by dictators? Would these be the people who routinely order other people killed who might threaten their power or who just failed to praise their dictator loudly enough at the last big social event? We need nukes more than ever now. Because our nukes and the slight belief that we might get steaming PO'd and use them may be the only thing that stops some two-bit tyrant or other with lots of money to play with from buying a nuke and using it on us.

You think the economy took a hit on 9-11? Just one little tactical nuke in a suitcase on Wall Street would have been how many times worse than 9-11? Sometimes I think the only two reasons it hasn't happened yet may well be our own covert ops that we never hear about, and the fact that if it ever did happen the capital city of the attacker could expect to get vaporised.

Now if you want to talk about nuclear knives in the back let's have a quick quiz.

Name the only modern civilized nation who has spent the whole 80's and 90's trying to sell certain lunatic third world nations ruled by total bloodthirsty madmen (Iraq and N. Korea, the nations voted most likely to nuke the USA.) the means and the expertise to build their very own nuclear breeder reactors? (Breeder reactors produce electrical power and also plutonium, which is used to make the bombs.)

Would that be our close and dear friends, the FRENCH?

Yes, it would.

The Israelie Air Force stopped France in the 80's in Iraq by bombing the hell out Saddam Hussein's reactor shortly before it could become operational. Some Frenchmen were no doubt killed that day, but since Israel likes being alive, they could care less what France had to say about it. And for the moment we have stopped the French in N. Korea mainly though massive econimic bribery. I understand we are building them a safe non-breeder reactor pretty much for free.

The French had no problem with doing this regardless of how obviously crazy it was to do nuclear business with madmen. After all, any nukes produced by their efforts would be aimed at the Americans, not at France. It makes me wonder where France will strike next in what is apparently a long standing campaign to place American lives on American soil in mortal danger.

Something that wasn't reportted widely..

After the election, they did a bunch of recounts in Florida..

Gore had wanted a statewide recount.. Bush had wanted either no recount, or a limited recount of the areas in question..

Had Gore won to get a Statewide recount, Bush would have won the elction..

Had Bush won with his limited recount, Gore would have won the election...

Kind of made me wonder who was advising either of them.

Pinkfloyd,

The point of the gun analogy, was this. If I have a weapon that you are 100% sure I will never use, you need not be worried about it. If I maintain that if push comes to shove, I could decide to use it, then there is always a question. Hence the deterrent.

Hunt well Folks,

If you had the gun i coundn't be 100% sure you would use it otherwise why would you have the gun, no gun means you wouldn't use the gun. if you had one you might. my point is would you use it knowing the concequences of your actions prison or retaliation.

Oddly enough, I was brought up not to point a gun at anything that I was not intending to shoot. So in our little example, if it was pointed at you, I would not have been talking, and telling you to get down.

But like I said, we are missing the point here.

Hunt well,
