when X-Box goes for under 150 then i'll buy one.. but for now, i'll stay with my PC...
Good old:
1.0 GHz PIII
256MB PC133 SDRAM
dual 120GB Hard Drives
That'll run just about anything out there right now.

That may be ok for you but my PC is a 450 mhz, 144 meg RAM, 4.5 gig hard drive which has only about 20 megs left on it with only 3 games, a 56k modem, and only one cdrom drive that actually works.
I finally got the entire PC to work by buying Windows XP. _________________ Confucius says, "Man who smokes pot, chokes on handle."

Wasnt it just a port of Mechwarrior 2 from the PC for Saturn and PSX?

I mainly play racing and RPG...so PS2 is grand for that. Every once and awhile a different game will come along that I like, like Way of the Samurai or Virtua Fighter 4 and i'll have to get it...
On PC i play strategy and Sci-fi flight sim, two games not good on console!

Talen, ever tried Colony Wars for PSX? That is a great sci-fi flight sim. If you try it I only recommend the original. It's the best. _________________ Nova Commander Tarn (Elam)

SW: Rouge Squadron (and Leader), SW: Starfighter and a few others I have played have all been great games, dont get me wrong. But they lack the detail i like. I grew up playing games like X-Wing and TIE Figter (i have the original 3.5" disk version!!!). TIE Fighter alone has over 120 missions, and it has the wonderfully complex, yet simple to use, control lay out. The Consoles just cant get that in depth, and the entire game becomes superficial.
There is a certain reason I am looking foward to "Pro Race Driver" so much. For those of you who dont know, Pro Race Driver is the first attempt at a CarPG (its been billed as that). There is a story you follow as you try and build up your career in the Touring Car leagues. Now the racing is wonderful looking, but so is every other racing game. This one has the added depth.
I have played Colony Wars, and it was decent, but I just didnt like it after 5 minutes.

You know, I *do* work in the electronics section of Wal-Mart, gang. As a cashier, I get to see everything go through, and I know the prices well.
I'm also astounded that out of every game thusfar mentioned, you've managed to miss all the good ones for the ones I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole.
Reccomended games for the PS 2:
Grand Theft Auto III: Totally not my thing, but it's one of their best sellers for a reason. Filled with millions of little hidden features (Got the plane? Got the tank? Have you flown the tank like the plane, yet?) it has scads of replay value. Worth your money.
State of Emergency, in contrast, is not. After ten, twenty minutes, you've seen everything it has to offer. Horrid game.
If you do the sports thing, Madden Football still outsells everything. Uhm. I don't play sports games, but I know the one that sales. I *guess* it's good?
SSX Tricky, in contrast, is less a sports game, more a fun game. It's an absolute hoot and a holler. I can't stand the other 'Extreme' games, and can't imagine getting on snow willingly, but, somehow, this game goes over the top enough to actually be fun, instead of real. This is good.
Ico. Ico Ico Ico Ico Ico. I cannot say enough good things about this game. I really, really can't. You want to buy a new PS2, just so you can put Ico in and hang it on your wall as art, it's so good. Must. Absolutely MUST own.
Gitaroo Man! My current obsession. Sure, the replay value's kinda low, but if you can get it in the $30 range, it's worth it. Crazy fun music game.
Metal Gear Solid 2 isn't my personal thing, since it involves lots of violence, but, it's also a DEEP game, with billions of nifty hidden things that let you play it forever and ever.
Dance Dance Revolution! A *PS1* game that you can just stick in the PS2. My lord, this is grand. Just make sure you get the dance pad itself, and bounce around like a raver.
The X-Box is ... problematic. Most of it's games are ports, available on all systems. This makes it less imperitive to buy, unless you want one of the four 'Money' titles. Outside of those four, there is great pain to be found in their development. Much indeed.
Halo is their Big Ticket Item. I totally don't get it, as first person shooters are the worst things I've ever seen, but, for whatever reason, there's a bunch of Doomquake people who go nutsoid over this one. It's the game that sells the system, right now.
Dead or Alive 3 is pretty. It's really, really pretty. But it has a lot of, uhm. Bounce. Mrf. And bounce is bad. The gameplay itself is weak, as well. This is just eye candy for teenaged boys. Sadly, it's also a top game for them.
Jet Set Radio Future. *DROOL* The game that makes me think about bringing an X-Box home after work every day. This one is *so* good. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, easy in plaes, working towards nearly impossible in others, there's lots of replay value, and the stylization *alone* is worth it. Add in the music ... this is a must-have for the system.
Race fans, of which I'm not, buy Project Gotham Racing. Uhm. So I guess if you like cars, you should too.
Azurik is so bad that it's black hole of suckness will taint every game placed within thee game cases of it. Do not purchase, unless it's to sandbag a 'friend' and take the joy from his life.
That gives us the Gamecube. Mmmmm, Gamecube.
Contrary to popular opnion, the Gamecube offers things for people of all ages. It's also got the most powerful graphics engine thingy of teh three systems, despite being the cheapest. It can do things no other console can, in terms of visual effects.
Pikmin is a great game, but not for an expensive purchase. $20 is enough, as your replay value is quite low, sadly. But this game is *very* fun, cute, and terribly, terribly addictive.
Luigi's Mansion isn't a game so much as a technical demonstration of what kind of things the Cube can do. Transparencies, reflections, water effects ... it really struts. And you can even have some fun.
Super Smash Brothers Melee just kicks all kinds of tush. Pikachu, Zelda AND Link, and tons of other people, plus unlockable types, billions of mini games ... it doesn't end! Invite your friends over for a four way Mario combat. Lurvly.
On tap is Mario Party 4 (Woo!), Metroid Prime, which is a first and third person action-adventure-shooter-thingy, a new Mario, a new ZELDA, and more. *drool drool*
Lastly, the Gameboy Advance is the machine of choice for RPG people. Lots n lots of RPGs, and more on the way. The first few Final Fantasy games and DragonWarrior are all being released on this one. Castelvania, the old Marios, Lady Sia, and a whole lot more! My current favorite system...
Any other questions?
