There are a lot of "pro-painted" minis being auctioned off by one loomdog32 on ebay. The guy is trying to do a ripoff.
If you look at the pics, you see metal minis. If you read the description, sometime around the 2nd sentence you are told it is a plastic mini. Of course, how many people just looked at the pic and made a bid?
The guy is taking the pics off of other auction also under way and using them for his own. Some of the pics are painted badly or not at all, so even if you notice the plastic bit and bid anyway, you have no idea how well painted if at all that thing will be.
Just figured I would mention it _________________ "Those who beat their guns into plows will plow for those with guns..." -Thomas Jefferson

You have commited libel against this individual.
Can you prove he's trying to rip people off?
No, you can't.
His decsriptions are very clear, that these are plastic minis and they only represent what the mini looks like not what the actual paint job is.
caveat emptor--let the buyer beware.
Buyers on eBay have the responsibility to read and understand the description of what they are buying. The seller could not have been more clear what this auction was for.

atually he is not ripping people off....in a way...but he didnt bother to mention this to the artist that he was auctioning off minis "painted" by him.
so its a weird political kinda thing...but he has been reported to ebay though

What was he reported for?
If it was for stealing other's pics (which is against eBay's TOS) the owners of the pics have to complain. eBay doesn't care unless the owners are the ones reporting it(because he may have permission to use them).
If it's because he's selling minis someone else painted and didn't tell him, they won't care either. That's an issue for the seller and painter, not eBay.

I wasnt the one who wrote ebay, but I know who the "pro" artist was...and I know the guy who is doing the auctioning as well...so needless to say when the artist found out that I knew the seller, he drilled me with a few questions, reported some stuff to ebay, and then when it all boiled down to it, when I talked with him today, it was jsut a bunch of miscommunication.

I didn't notice any false advertising...he never claimed it was he that painted them, just a "professional"

It was a tricky bit. The way I saw it is that a lot of people will scroll down to the pic and not pay much attention to the written description when they have some eye candy instead. It did not say Plastic until the 2nd sentence and could be missed by the casual reader. I didn't report him to ebay, since he could always claim he didn't have a camera to take pics with and I didn't know the part about stealing other ebayers pics until I read about it here.
But since I had seen that a plastic marauder's price was already over 10 bucks and climbing I figured I should mention it here and in another Btech forum as a general consumer warning. I sure know how ticked I woudl be if I got a plastic mini, thinking it was metal and nothing I could do about it.
And no, he did not try to truly hide that it was a plastic mini. But a pic is clearly supposed to show us what the "Pro Painted" mini looks like and it was a pic of some metal mini from some other person's auction, most of them not anywhere near to being a "Pro" paint job. What he was doing was selling minis with supposedly real good paint jobs using pics that were not those paint jobs. The pics imply that that mini will look like that, when it very likely does not.

The pic is clearly desribed as not being the mini you'd be buying--that it was only to identify what the mini was.
It's the seller's job to accurately describe the item--which he did. It is the buyer's responsibility to read the description and understand what he's bidding on. If the buyer has any questions there is a link to "ask the seller a question". If the buyer is not satisfied with the answer then he should not bid.
Caveat emptor.

BTW, I recieved a PM asking why this wasn't in off-topic....
because this is IMO really about buying stuff on eBay, and as there's a lot of people that buy Battletech stuff on eBay this is sort of on topic.
