Scott,
Movement like this is why I used to only allow a maximum of 2 difference between pilot and gunnery skills. Guaranteed, I will fall before this is all over, but right now I need silly easy numbers on almost all my pilot checks... _________________ "My Blood is not mine to give, it belongs to my Brothers"

The fact we can't block hex rows means there's less potential rolls too... _________________ www.210sportsblog.com

I think there's a lot of things not ideal right now. I agree allowing the silly piloting checks with regular gunners isn't good. As a matter of fact, I'll probably update that rule for all my games. No more 1/5 for regular games. There should be some balance. Having a max difference of 2 sounds reasonable to me, and typically falls into what most do anyways.
chihawk's point is more problematic. For this type of game, not being able to block paths makes it too easy for the really quick 'Mechs. What's playing out is you fast folks either need to get unlucky on a skid roll, or someone needs to get lucky on hitting you. Short of that, I think it'll be tough to do much to stop you.
I could always make it so you can't move through a 'Mechs spot if you move before them. That's easy enough to do and provides some level of blocking, which is key to any race. So if you lose init, and 3 'Mechs line the row in front of you, you effectively can't get by them. If you win init and move last, where 'Mechs stand doesn't matter.
What would you guys think of that rule, not only for this game, but any of my games in general? _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

Also, that Thunder Fox... ouch. Xeroth is lucky he missed, because his 'Mech couldn't take 15 points of damage anywhere! Will be curious to see how many 'Mechs it can take out before someone wins or manages to punch through its hardened armor. |
Ya that probably is going to be my best shot all game! My fault though as I had only planned on walking turn 1. When you notified me that I didn’t take the level change into account I should’ve kept a hex back instead of turning it into a run...would’ve hit him! I'd be perfectly fine with that both for this and future games, says the idiot in the stupidest 'Mech.
Also, if I miraculously survive to the half-way mark, I will start pulling off some stupider stunts. _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

chihawek asked if those were a viable option the second I opened up registration. I did think about it, but seemed a tad cruel for a game where running around a figure eight was the objective.

That Heavy PPC and the dude running around with the Clan ER PPC are both fast 'Mech killers, as they can rip a leg off in a single turn.
Having said that, you aren't out of it yet. You lose the benefits of being a quad a 1MP, but with your lower pilot and MASC, you can still motor around. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

The proposed rule changes make sense. Initiative affects blocking for sure, and the skill spread makes sense if we're assuming that these are "regular" pilots recruited for this race instead of pilots specially trained for just this event and not much else.
