On page 115, last paragraph, where they are talking about the death of Natasha Kerensky, they say it happen on Tukayyid, but according to all the other sources it happen on Twycross... |

As Archer is visiting Natasha's fallen 'Mech at Twycross later in this book ( page 193, 4th ยง ), this can only be a typo !

Actually they use tanks with a much HEAVIER material, like quicksilver, to fuel their jumpjets if there is no atmosphere.

Actually you send enough to do the job. Standard IS doctrine for a planetary assault is at least three to one odds. The clans do have a point when they try and minimize forces to reduce waste. If you have someone outnumbered 10 to 1 you tend to just forget tatics and strategies and just charge, that can cost you a heck of a lot.
Numbers are not everything.

Minimizing numbers to reduce waste works only to a point. It only reduces the number available to be wasted, though in reality it actually increases the casusalty rate.
When faced with 10 to 1 odds, most opponents would simply just surrender. This results in far less waste ogf life and material. And if they outnumbered side chooses to fight, they will be destroyed quickly, whereas the larger force will take far less casualties, if any at all. This results in less total losses.
The whole point of stratgey and tactics is to achieve a higher concentration of firepower than your opponent, specifically to either convince him that it is not worth fighting, or to destroy him with minimal loss to your units should he choose to fight anyway.

Now, again, I hate to beat a drum, but I wonder how much this attack cost them in a financial sense. No one has bottomless endless pockets, not even the Lyrans. The cost of jump ships, drops, Aero support, and so on had to be mind-boggling for this particular assault.
Hope this doesn't start a trend. Real war ain't Risk.

While you have a good point the alternative is going back to single company since units taking whole planets or a single regiment and holding the planet against repeated attacks...
I would rather see who brigades fighting to take a world then a single regiment...the idea is lost it seems of a planet begin a big area of land and water to hold and control.
