Yet another design I believe has enough merit for posting. Any ideas on changes?

BattleTech Vehicle Technical Readout
VALIDATED

Type/Model: Dagger Infantry Support Vehicle
Tech: Inner Sphere / 3060
Config: Wheeled Vehicle
Rules: Level 2, Standard design

Mass: 35 tons
Power Plant: 155 Earthwerks Gas Turbine I.C.E.
Cruise Speed: 54.0 km/h
Maximum Speed: 86.4 km/h
Armor Type: Star Slab/3 Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
3 M100 Heavy Machine Guns
2 Harvester 2K SRM 2s
1 Datacom 50 Guardian ECM
Manufacturer: Majesty Metals and Manufacturing
Location: Canopus IV
Communications System: Datacom 50 w. Guardian ECM
Targeting & Tracking System: Garret E2b

==Overview:==
Created in 3055, the Dagger has slowly been disseminating into the Inner Sphere from small shipments from the Magistracy of Canopus. Designed response to the Clan war, the Dagger was made to silently move infantry or rebel units around, even far behind lines. In recent years, however, the Dagger ISV has simply become a very cost effective APC, capable of supporting dismounted Battle Armor and infantry.
Though lightly armed and armored, the Dagger is quick, and well armed to take the fight to infantry and other vehicles, especially when carrying Inferno rockets. The low price has also made it popular in mercenary units.
The Federated Suns and Lyran Alliance have also purchased a few to help quickly rebuild shattered units. The Capellan Confederation has shown no interest in the design, possibly because their Fa Shih Battle Armor do not need dedicated
transports.

==Capabilities:==
The Dagger was built on three principals: survivability, reliability and cost effectiveness. The Earthwerks Turbine and Harvester 2K missile systems had been proven on the popular Plainsman Hovertank. The Datacom 50 ECM suite was among the most reliable available, known to take direct hits and continue function.
The three M100 Heavy machine guns are the highest caliber machine guns in current production in the Inner Sphere. Arranged in a pseudo Gattling gun mount, the three guns rotate rapidly while firing, capable of inflicted serious casualties on infantry and also on BattleMechs at close range.
Another feared ability, demonstrated so often in the Chaos March, the ability to carry Inferno missiles and immoliate anything that gets in the Dagger's way. This has caused the destruction of many cities.

==Variants:==
A few Daggers with limited technology were built in 3013 to test the design's concept. These carry a eight and a half tons of standard armor but no ECM.

==Deployment==
Many mercenary units make use of the Dagger. The Magistracy of Canopus also uses large numbers of the Dagger, about twice as many as the number of Maultiers in use. In the Taurian Concordant, the ratio is reversed.
In addition, they have been seen in House Davion's Avalon Hussars and in House Steiner's Lyran Guards. Several lances of the machines have apparently been spread around the damaged units in an attempt to shore up the undermanned units.

Too slow for my tastes, and I usually leave ECM suits for special units only. The variant without ECM should certainly outnumber the more expensive one? I can`t really see mercs or anyone else wasting money on electronics for a slow infantry transport. If the company leader has ECM, that`s fine and quite enough. Guardian suits cost a lot of C-bills a piece!

So do fusion engines. This variant is more expensive, but faster. It also carries less firepower so I'm not fond of it. See what you think.

I'm still new to this game...And just learning about tanks and stuff....But isn't this a little slow for a tank? They're so easy to kill as is....I would think speed is their best deffense.

I find that tanks have no trouble standing up to 'Mechs when employed correctly. 'Mechs can stand alone, vehicles and infnatry cannot. A tank must be supported by other tanks, infantry or 'Mechs. Properly spported, a combined arms force will almost always beat an all-'Mech unit.

As for speed, I was operating under cost restrictions and uses. This design is meant to be cheap, thus I use a much heavier internal combustion engine. Also, it is fast enough to keep up with most medium and heavy 'Mechs and all assults. If it is speed you want, see the above variant, which can keept pace with some scout 'Mechs.

Finally, this is still just a transport. It is only meant to be used against infantry and other tanks, and let the infantry contained within fight BattleMechs, preferably with a swarm attack. If faced with heavy opposition, load up and run.

Well, the fusion engine is costly, but at least it`s something immediately useful

Still, if we`re talking about cheap, I`ll take the ICE model without ECM. That way my grunts get there in time without bleeding
me dry in the process. You`re right, 5/8 is only slow compared to scout mechs.

My favorite infantry transport is the new model of the Maxim, BTW. Multi-function weaponry, TAG, full platoon of grunts. It can actually do something beyond delivering the soldiers to the front.
