Maybe. I think spotters would clear that up, maybe the laser can't see you, but I doubt three woods would manage to drain that monster beam of all it's power.

I was referring to the rules. This isn't artillery, it's a really big direct fire weapon.
Also, naval lasers don't have to deal with attenuation of the beam caused by atmospheres. Even though this is a low power version, it would have even shorter range, due to beam scatter. Superheated air can act as a lens and refocus or difract the beam.

whoa!! wait! before you all start hitting me with large heavy blunt objects i have to say the final varients will be 1) a mobile varient that will weigh something like 38 tons and take up 12 crits and only do 15-25 damage, and 2) a non-mobile varient that will weigh arround 130 tons and will do between 30-45 damage but have + to hit due to its massive size. now i know even these ideas need work but this is in progress so dont hurt me yet

ps. hardware you are right a bout its los problem that is one of the big disadvantages i ment to work into this weapon. stationed up on a tall hill or large structure it is dangerous but if put a low level a hornet could hide prone behind a level 1 hill and render it completely useless while picking it apart with indirect lrm5 fire
