Interesting and what happens to the gas that is released from the combustion of the round that moves the breach to fire the next round if their is only the oxygen from each round?
Where is the combustion getting it's air from to move the bolt back forward to fire the next round?
There is still a spark no matter what else there is as a spark that is sets off the gunpowder which makes the gas...each round doesn't hold that much oxygen.

You are saying that specailized flares that burn underwater does not have that much of oxygen to do that?

No, I am not saying that...they have chemicals that allow for them to burn...what I am asking is where are the MGs and other ammo weapons like the ACs getting their oxygen to operate from?
Since their weights don't change from the ground based counterparts I think it's a legimate question to ask...

Point...but it still brings up some interesting questions on the mechinics of the game and how those who thought up the game invisioned things...
Could be worse, at least we have air locks and such...unlike SW and ST just to name some sci-fi shows.

um.... your data on these are incorrect.
1] what does oxygen have to do with the escaping gases caused by the gunpowder? thats what kicks back the loading mechanizems on guns, not oxygen and the shock/speed of these escaping gases from the barrel is what causes kick. so were does oxygen figure in here?
2] i'd say its safe to say that the MG, traditionly thought as a 20mm vulcan [or rotary] cannon uses a rotary loading mechanizem. meaning they don't use escaping gases to load the next round.
3] mechanicle loading breaches assisted by electrical drives is probly [not deffently] how they load traditional autocannons. so again, no use of escaping gases. can one of you military dweebs confirm this for me please.

A spark is needed to set the gunpoweder off that is in each round, the reaction from that spark causes the MGs mechincs to work...without the spark you don't have anything to ignite the gunpowder then the weapon will not work.

thats what the primers for.... all guns can be fired underwater. it only because of water in the barrel and mechanics that prevents it from firing properly. the casing will keep the round dry, and the primer when struck will still pop and ignite the powder. forcing the bullet down the barrel.
same thing in space.
