==Overview:==
Like the Zhukov the Mastiet is another attempt by the Dzerhezinsky Tractor Works to remove its dependence from the Po Heavy Tank. However, it is also a unique design in and of itself, useful not only for its combat ability, but also because its creation would require the building of a new plant, the Red October Plant in Kletskaya. Although this will delay mass production of the tank for almost two years, the addition of a new plant for the creation of weaponry is considered ideal. Its location, which is as far from New Moscow as you can get and remain on the same continent, also means that in the event New Mosco is captured, there are still spare parts, weapons, and vehicles being produced. The civilians are looking forward to the job oppertunities, as already large numbers of orders from across the Inner Sphere are being made for the Masteit.

==Capabilities:==
The Masteit was unveiled at an arms show on Outreach. It was kept hidden and slightly disassembled until the last minute. Then it rolled out onto the trying grounds and proceeded to defeat almost anything that was sent at it, including four Po Heavy Tanks that the Cappellen Confederation generiously donated to the event.

In effect the heavy Masteit is nothing more then a overgrown Po Heavy Tank. However, unlike the Po, a lot more effort has gone into design and research. The Masteit, for instance, has a more gradual slopping armor on the sides and front of the main chassis, angled against the most common vectors of attack. The cupola is flatter, and more angled then the Po's, being designed to take a direct hit from almost any weapon and keep on coming. The thick, tempered armored is well distrubted and this makes for tough shell to crack.

The steel treads and armored and redundent undercarriage make for a mine resistent vehicle as well. Although mines are able to damage the machine, the cases where mines have totally disabled a T-121 are nonexistent. Of course, the prototypes were built one by one, with special care, some weaknesses may creep into the factory produced models. But such toughness is hard to weaken even when exposed to unskilled labor. The T-121 promises to be a hard unit for Russian forces.

Its weaponry is well chosen as well, with a lot of care to detail. With the Russian commanders experience with the Po Heavy Tank, they were able to craft a tank that isn't much more expensive, but even more deadly. The key to this is the new LB 10X AC being produced by the Piepsk Weapon Systems, and also fairly cheap Rocket Launchers. When attacking, Po's tend to be used in charges, as it is the most efficient attack with them. They need to move at top speed and get their gun to bear as soon as possible, depending on numbers to overwhelm a force with minimum losses. Individually, or standing still, Po's are to weak to fight even infantry. The Masteit is designed to counter this. It has a longer ranged weapon, which can also inflict more damage, the Cluster rounds are able to seek out weaknesses in the Po's armor and destroy it. Not only that, but to deal with the first wave of Po's, nearly 40 rockets have been loaded into a barrell on the side of the turret. These lash out quickly early on in the battle to disable and damage Po's that are attempting to swamp a force of Masteits. This has proven to be a very successful tactic, as when fourty rockets come swooping in at them, most Po commanders choose to retreat or backpeddle rather then press the attack. This costs them time, and leaves them sitting right in the perfect range for the LB cannons. After the smoke clears usually the Masteits are pressing forward, their steel treads crunching over the smoking remains of the Po's.

No Russian weapon system is complete without a nod to the infantry. Because most Russian forces go into battle in combined arms units, it was decided to mount two machine guns to help clean out enemy infantry who could either hamper the tanks or disrupt the movements of the tanks infantry escorts. The turret mounted machine gun can actually be fired indepedent of the other weapon systems, used by the commander to shoot swarming infantry attacks.

Needless to say the Masteit were a huge success on Outreach.

==Variants:==
Currently only one variant is being discused, but it is doubtful it will see production for another four or five years. This varient would remove the Rockets in favor of an SRM-2 and a ton of ammunition for it. Although greatly reduced in damage, the SRMs can fire for a very long time. This trade off was considered important as early computer simulations indicate that one major weakness would be the swarming of light vehicles, followed by Po's. Of course, this isn't anything that infantry support couldn't handle, but the design is being considered as a viable option.

Not to mention that any enemy invader will be quite very surprised by having their dropships, small crafts and fighters shot out from underneath them from hordes of those Masteits. Remember -3 to hit modifer apply to all of those flyable crafts, hehehehe...

This is a another good design, and it helps to give the rocket launchers more acceptance.

Gotta lova LBXs. But, Raven!, I feel I should give the following advice: don't get rid of all your designs with standard ACs. Bryant seems on good terms with the FedSuns and if you can begin producing armor piercing AC ammo, it's very dangerous to 'Mechs. And cheap too.
