Based in the Draconis March of the Federated Suns, Beckwood is known for both the quality of their products and their rarity. Beckwood guns are uncommon even in the Federated Suns and require special ammo. Despite this, Beckwood firearms have an unusually high penetrating power against all types of armor and on the cutting edge of technology. Made with precision instruments and special chemical compounds, rare even in the technologically leading Federated Suns, Beckwood’s weapons and bullets are extremely powerful and sought by those who faced stiff armored opposition. Currently, they are rumored to be working on a bolt-action rifle. Beckwood has no plans to develop laser weapons, though they are considering Gauss weapons.

Beckwood SN990: The SN990 is a small machine pistol with a great deal of power…too much power perhaps. The SN990 suffers from extreme recoil, making it difficult to aim and keep on target. It’s armor piercing is first rate however.

Beckwood M9: The company’s latest design, this assault rifle lacks knockdown power, but has a high rate of fire. It is light and comes with several integral features, including a compass, flashlight and ammo gauge, to eliminate guesswork. In addition to the usual armor piercing, this rifle is more accurate than many others, and boasts a large ammo load.

Beckwood Kodiak: The first design of Beckwood, the Kodiak revolver was at first known as an unreliable and inaccurate weapon. Borrowing heavily, Beckwood upgraded the manufacturing line using computerized machines, that ground the pieces to within more than 1/1000th of a millimeter to match the computer aided designed models. Since then, sales of the Kodiak have picked up incredibly. Though heavy, the Kodiak suffers from very little recoil and is extremely reliable and powerful. This has become the preferred sidearm of sharpshooters.

Note: machinery built to extreme precision requires excessive amounts of maintenance. That`s a big minus for military units.

Specialty ammunition means you can run out of it easily. There`s a good reason for using the old 9mm as a military sidearm

As fluff text it`s interesting, though.

All reasons why the Beckwoods are both more rare than, and perform better than, most other slug-throwers.

Other Note: You can use standard ammo in Beckwood guns, but the AP drops by one.
