TSi, in an effort to capitilize on its experiences with mass producing 'mechs, a technique used to create the RX-78 GM chassis, designed a lighter, faster 'mech for its buyers. This 'mech was the FM-190 Familiar.
Nothing is too extraordinary about the 'mech, which is why it is able to keep the price low. The only special components, Endo Steel, Ferro Fibrus and MASC, are so easily acquired now that there is little suprise they were added. The interesting part is that the chassis is so simplisticlly made that the endo steel was actually mass molded into the required parts. This is usally frowned upon as the torso has a tendency to become unbalanced when twisting. The Familiar was not built to twist, however, and unbalancing is no problem.
