I can't say that I get this effort to make omnis into standard designs. Gods why?

I think it is because of how MWDA dumped a lot of non-Omni Clan mechs into the universe. We have a lighter Mad Cat, which is kind of silly, but hey I guess it works for the game and it's a non-omni. So that started a trend. Easy fix would be to make them omni's again, but I am sure that the old cliche of limited resources and other issues have caused the Clans to cut back on Omnis etc...that always seems to be the case in Battletech when the writers and such want to get around mistakes or just need something to push forward.

Actually adding another supply chain parallel to the omni with parts that almost match but not really doesn't look like a good idea to me.

The problem I have with this though is to me it seems like omni would be the way to go. Hell a company that just makes universal fittings for mechs and weapons should be booming so Inner Sphere techs can have an easier time repairing units.
