Jordan Weisman, the creator of BattleTech and MechWarrior, is back with the first turn-based BattleTech game for PC in over two decades. Harebrained Schemes has announced their return to Kickstarter this Fall to partner with Backers in co-funding the creation of BATTLETECH. Steeped in the feudal political intrigue of the 3025 era of BattleTech universe, the game will feature an open-ended Mercenaries-style campaign that blends RPG ’Mech and MechWarrior management with modern turn-based tactics.

We are honored and excited that Jordan and the HBS team has been consulting with Randall N. Bills, Loren Coleman, and other members of Catalyst Game Labs since the conception of the project and we all look forward to continuing to contribute throughout BATTLETECH’s development.

“Twenty-nine years ago a 15-year-old geek stumbled into a new game store,” said Randall N. Bills, Managing Developer of Catalyst Game Labs. “Sitting prominently on a shelf I saw the Fox’s Teeth alongside the BattleTech 2nd Edition box set and my life-long love of BattleMechs storming alien worlds set against a Machiavellian universe was sealed. I’ve worked with Jordan in a slew of capacities in the almost twenty years since I was hired at FASA Corporation. But to sit at the table with him and be firing on all creative cylinders as we dive into that original creation that I still enjoy so much...yeah, simply beyond fantastic!”

Catalyst Game Labs unleashed a slew of its own announcements, including an open Beta Test for the long-awaited Interstellar Operations rulebook, re-imaginings of the unseen images, the return of BattleTech fiction in print novels and more great books coming...toss in Jordan’s computer game and it’s a fantastic time to be a fan of heavy metal action!

“Randall and Loren have been the caretakers of the BattleTech universe for over a decade and I am very excited to have them involved as we re-explore the original story setting through the lens of a Mercenary commander,” said Jordan Weisman CEO of Harebrained Schemes.

I would prefer more of a mechwarrior 4 style game, but this is a start.

I'm sure I'll buy it. Let's hope I don't play it once and never touch it again though. Smile
