If you count VTOLs as Aero, then all the time. If not, then rarely...maybe 5% of the time.

Chi's on this one.
VTOLs are in about a tenth of our missions, primarily for a scouting role or in a defending position.
Actual Aero units are in, maybe, one out of a hundred ... most people don't enjoy a game of "Okay, I strafe you, and you miss. I strafe you, and you miss" ... Know what I mean? 
We've only had a *single* match that I ever saw with a conventional fighter in it. That was kinda cool. I should pull one out...

I wouldn't know...we only had aerospace fighters in our campaign twice...once, they made a bombing run and skedaddled...the other, I shot down one Stuka and the Archer heavily dmged the other...

I have never used Aerofighters in a ground-based game. I use VTOL's every so often, mainly as target practice.

Well, considering we like playing mercs, there are a lot of ASFs about. Something wrong with the unit creation in FM:Mercs? Actually using them for anything? Strafing runs if there`s a suitable Lance of ASFs near enough when the groundpounders run into trouble.

In one of our last games Hans had used aerospace on his side of the scenario.
After a few rounds of concentrated fire at the fighters they were grounded and we advanced to finish his mechs.
