In 3055 during a conference within her realm, Melissa Arthur Steiner-Davion died due to an assassin's bomb. This assassin was none other than her own psycho daughter, Katherine. But was this woman who died really Melissa Steiner?

In 3027, Katrina Elizabeth Steiner (Melissa's mother and Archon at the time)set forth plans to create a double for her daughter. A candidate from the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces was chosen and the woman took on her new duties to House Steiner without question. Her name was Jeana Clay, but her former life was now erased completely and she became Melissa Steiner for all time. Jeana stood in many times for Melissa when she was elsewhere in the vast reaches of the Inner Sphere.

It is my belief that the conference where the bomb went off was one of those times. Jeana Clay sacrificed her life to save the Archon. Melissa Steiner-Davion is now in hiding with her most loyal subjects, gathering evidence to reveal her daughter Katherine as the blood-thirsty killer she is.

What do you think? Could this be possible? Probably not, but it deffinately would be a shocking way to bring an end to this FedCom civil war.

Let me know your thoughts.

Jeana Clay was killed by assassins sent after Melissa and Katrina back during the 4th Succession War...she stopped the assassins at the cost of her own life...

Katrina Steiner always lamented that she could never properly honor such bravery and dedication to duty...

This factoid is detailed in the Warriors Trilogy...

This is just a variation on the Hanse Davion argument.

The honest truth is that I doubt it. Something of that magnitude would be hard to explain to the long-time fans if it were to be introduced.

The reality of things like that is that it would be impossible. If Hanse and/or Melissa were still alive, given all that was going on they would have made some sort of statement by now. Introducing them at so late a stage in the old series is realistically impossible.

Ya, that's what I figured. I'm reading Warrior: En Garde over again and this is where I got it from, in Chapter 11. Before I posted, I should have finished the series to find out that Jeana died some other way. I still think it would have been a cool way to go in the storyline.

Later

Well, there's nothing to say that Melissa Steiner never got another double to cover for her when traveling and such. Of course, then it would definately sound like the whole story was being pulled out of an Urbie's backside, but it is possible.

I still like the idea that Katherine maybe off Daddy as well as mommy...regeicide is her hallmark.

I still like my "Katherine is really a doppleganger" theory (the real Katherine being held prisoner or something). This is part of the whole "everyone evil is a doppleganger" theory of how Comstar and then later Word of Blake intended to bring down the Inner Sphere.

But the same plot for every leader in the IS would get old fast. Beside doubles never really work. Someone always find out....

That would mean that the current Leader of the FWL, Thomas Marik, is in fact evil as well. Which is something they've certainly not protrayed him as at all since introducing the character. For which, I think the Clone guy, though originally suppose to be a puppet leader, stayed there so long and grew into the role so well, that he's sorta become more of a real leader than a puppet. Which is sorta why Victor has never said anything to or about him being a clone.

yes, our marik is a good guy.
i like him....
but he's starting to worry about the real thomas. (storms of fate) i don't think that's a good sign

also.
if, IF, melissa was still alive, i'd think it was really cool.
but i'd call her a bitch cause she let the whole civil war drag on and happen.
and to let victor be soooo sad.

if she were alive.
she could single handedly stop the fighting and unite the commonwealth again.
that's not too likely.

also, they aren't going to have the marik fake as well as a melissa fake.
that would be going over board just like Mission Impossible 2... Mad

This is not the Marvel Universe. They will not be bringing anyone back from the dead. She is gone, kaputz, D.E.D. dead.

It was a much sadder day when they offed Justin Xiang Allard, now there was a real MechWarrior. (Patrick Kell for that matter also)

Let's not forget Davis McCall. I'll admit that I got slightly misty-eyed when I read the part where he was killed. Of course, it didn't help that I was listening to the Fellowship of the Ring soundtrack at the time, and by coincidence I was reading that part of the book just as the soundtrack hit the part where Gandalf fell fighting the Balrog.

At least McCall got ot go down fighting. Morgan Hasek-Davion died in his bed of a spiked drink. What a way to go...

(Ronin eyes his IBC suspiciously for a moment, but is confidant that chihawk would never serve a bad drink)

I agree, he was very kewl. Cranking out his highlander music over the coms to rattle his opponents in his Rifleman, a real MechWarrior's ride.
