The flottila of Heavy Horse Dropshipsburned into the planet's atmosphere at 1.7 Gs. Once they reached a safe distance from the ground the doors on the Mech carriers opened up, and the BattleMechs of the Horse began jumping out, jump-jets, or strap-on Jetpacks slowing down their decent.

"Alright troops, look alive out there, the Colonel's in that mess somewhere, and he needs our help," LCol Vance Thompson, CO of the FHH reported over the radio, from the seat of his Crusader. "Recce Squadron, find us a route through this monkey infested city to the Colonel's last known location."

Major Sari Yoshio quickly pushed his Raptor forward, with the other 16 light Mechs of the Recce Squadron picking their way through the carcass covered streets.

A and B Squadrons of the FHH pushed forward next, using the routes that were being cleared by the light Mechs, while C Squadron, and the Squadron of Callibrae's Carbineers took up the rear, and covered the forward two Squadrons in depth.

****

The Heavy Horse Dropships landed in a large clearing on the outskirts of the city, the infanteers and Armoured Squadron fanning out to provide a screen for the Horse's Transport ships, while the Artillery Regiment deployed it's six towed Thumpers, and six Thor Arty pieces, in order to be ready for any call.

****

Alexander's Banshee was scarred heavily by the day's fighting. He stayed close to the bar during the fight, providing close support for the warriors who stubbornly refused to leave the taps and kegs held within. He wished he could have stayed inside, but anger that anyone would threaten his watering hole forced him to fight. Now, though, the fight was moving back, away from the bar, and so he ventured further away, hoping that what little ammo he had left would last any further onslaughts...

He looked down at his radar screen and noticed a group of 17 small Mechs approaching his position, and readied himself, until the radio crackled, "Niner, niner, this is Four, radio check over."

Alexander smiled, "Four, this is niner, niner, read you loud and clear, good to have you here, over."

"Four, roger that. We're here to escort you to the dropships, over," Major Yoshio replied.

"Negative, there's still fighting out there, and we're going to make those buggers pay."

****

The Artillery Regiment was receiving calls from the soldiers of other units on the line, who were pressed by the monkey hordes. The gunners laid down a hail of High-Explosive rounds almost ontop of friendly positions, in a last ditch effort to spare those men from a monkey death.

****

A flight of four Cavalry VTOLs from the 430th Attack Squadron approached the front lines of the battle, and witnessed the towers of smoke from destroyed Mechs, and explosions of High-Explosive rounds hitting friend and foe alike as they moved into the attack.

****

The five Mech Squadrons of the Heavy Horse moved into firing distance of the front lines quickly, the men pressing their machines to their limits. "Never fear Bar and Grill Patrons, the Cavalry has arrived!" Alexander shouted as his Mechs jumped into the fray...

****

Hunter ran out of the Bar noticeing finally tthe Foul Stench and Simian horrors. "Damn and I thought it was just my nose adjusting to not being on a dropship!" He quickly ran over to his Battle Scarred Nemesis LAM and climbed to the cockpit blasting a few monkeys that attempted to halt his progress with his Blazer pistol. "Jagers this is Command Offload now! 1 and 2 advance on my position 3 Guard the LZ and somebody get me a link up to Fleet!"
--------------
High overhead the Jaegers Fleet received it's orders an began wheeling into position full burn. A Swarm of Fighters Spewed forth from the bays of the Eisenhower as the Fletcher and jones took up Position to screen the Massive carrier and the 2 Elco Claas Torpedo Monitors disengaged.
--------------
Hunter climbed back out of the LAM and walked back into the Bar Blasting a few more monkeys on the way in. "Damn now I really need a drink."

Threat? What threat?

Mordel's warning system shows there hasn't been a monkey within 1000km of the B&G in months.

Not sure what the worry was...

The Major shrugs. "Large scale war games are effective ways of demonstrating unit integrity. Mow, we all know our strengths and our weaknesses."

Wait a minute, so what you are telling me, is that this was just a stinking war game? By god, it was the most realistic war game we have ever participated in, not to mention the most foul smelling one too. Just let those stinkin' monkeys try and attack here.

A war game? Perhaps. Perhaps not. Could it be "someone" has been slipping something in the drinks at the bar & grill, causing some sort of shared hysteria/hallucinations?

The Major brings in a "monkey" and uses a screwdriver to pry the head off. Inside is a mess of circuit boards and little else. "So you guys really didn't know?"

Alexx slams down his drink, stands up and walks over to the bar.

"Here ya go Chihawk, sorry bout the mess."

"What mess?"

"This one." Alexx replies as he walks over to the Major's table, and flips it over saying, "That just isn't funny sir!" and storms off back to his table and down his drink in one gulp and orders a few more rounds for him self, quickly downing half of them.

The Major stares after Alexx. "Oh well. I guess he didn't see the flyers I'd put up." Points over to the wall wherea flyer proclaims the wargames against robot monkeys under the guise of simian invasion.

::Alexx lets out a cry of anguish::

"Did anyone else see those damn flyers? I swear that they weren't up there an hour ago."

The Major goes over to talk to Talen who hands him a tape. "Talen got this just before his link to the security system was severed. It shows me putting up these flyers after I fixed the pinball machine."
