could animalistic designs offer an increase in speed, stability, or potential?

an example is the vilosa raptor. design a bipedal design with a chassie layout similar to the raptor. head forward, very low profile, with a counter balancing tail.

weapons could be back or arm mounted.

what ya think?

Are you referring to the version of Zoids that was formerly in Toonami, or the other version of Zoids that is stupidly going to waste in a kill slot? (5:30 AM weekdays Central Time.)

Although using the same general format, they both portray the units a little differently (as the one shown early in the morning is set in the middle of a war while the other one is set apparently after it.)

The answer is yes. It would.

They are working on just such machinics right now.

I saw it on the Discovery channel.

They took the balance of a raptor. And gave it motion. It didn't walk very. But it ran pretty good. and hopped with ease.

The one that is currently running in the morning slot (labeled Zoids Chaotic Century here in America) is the original 2 seasons/series of Zoids (the first part is set when Ban/Van is about 14, the second season is set 4 years later...this is why you can see scenes in the opening and closing credits where the group appear older)...

The season running in the afternoon is the third season/series, set many years after the war, and from what I've gathered on the net, there is a good possibility that Bit Cloud is the kid of Van and Fiona (there's a reason why it only allows Bit to pilot it), while Brad could be Moonbay's kid...
