has done a review of Return of the King...I mean, I know the movie speaks for itself, but it's still slightly surprising...

Anyways, I've seen the movie twice now (first showings on Friday and Sunday mornings)...what can one say? Epic? Stunning? Breathtaking? Sets a new standard?

Well, yes, but those words hardly seem to do the movie justice...I guess there is nothing to really describe it...one needs to experience it for themselves...

Now, if one wanted to be picky, there are parts that were important portions of the novel that were either given just bare nods in the film, or left out altogether...I just consider that something to look forward to in the extended editions...and I know many will consider the ending to be a bit dragging, so perhaps it was best they were left out of the theatrical release...but altogether, I'd say this is the most ground breaking trilogy ever to come to the big screen...even more than the original Star Wars trilogy...

Much like Neon Genesis Evangelion, I guess the best words for this movie...for this whole trilogy...are

"See it, Experience it, You will be changed."

I'll go see it tomorrow, so no comments from me until then. Although I hear rumors that it's great.

Some of us only see new movies once they hit the video stores. So I cannot give a review until sometime next year at the soonest.

Isaw it at 11:30 opening day. It was really good. I still, for some reason, liked the first one the best. I think because the first is where a majority of the character development occurrs. The ending did drag on a little, but it was nice to get closure on most of the characters.

Now, if only they had the help of the mountain people in the first movie...

Trust me...this is one of those films you REALLY need to see on the big screen....unless you own a 100 inch home tv or something...

Just got done preparing (rewatching the first two movies, and rereading Return of the King). So, anybody think the Hobbit is next?

God, I swear you people suck. The movies are so over rated. The characters have NO depth at all, the acting is terrible, the directing is laughable. The only thing good about the movie is the fact there arent any more coming out. How can you sit and watch a 4 hour movie and enjoy it? After the first hour and a half I felt like leaving...but noooo, I had to stay and watch the rest of the shit. I payed $6.50 for it, so i might as well stay for it all...ugh.

What really gets me is all you bandwagon people. "Oh, look...its another movie series. I had better go see them...la tee da!." Geeze.

I guess what really gets to me is the fact that people are willing to shell out so much movie to see sugh god awful movies over and over again. God, do you know how predictable the plot was? I swear I called the ending like...2 hours intot he movie. Its laughable how cliche it was.

"Oh look...we have this uber thing we have to destroy...lets go destroy it. uh oh...PERIL! Well, we got over the Peril...but there is ANOTHER PERIL. One long series of cliche "hero" stories strung together. Agh it makes me sick.

Well, many of us have read the books. We knew how it would end before entering the cinema. We still wanted to see it.

I thought it was a fine spectacle.

Some people can never be satisfied. Not everyone liked the movies. It depends on what you were trying to get out of them. I thought the acting was fine. I've seen FAR FAR worse.

high-profile high-quality productions like LotR and Harry Potter (you don't have to like the story, it is high-profile, and it is high-quality moviemaking) make me very hopeful that some intelligent people will continue to look at the SF and fantasy domain as a potential for solid income, rather than a quick n dirty buck a la Wingcommander or Dungeons and Dragons.
