Really? I just checked this thread and all I see her doing is saying what forms of payment she would accept. I don't see her "smack talking" nor do I see her belittling "your" team.

When you signed up for this forum you agreed to follow the posting policy (www.mordel.net/barandgrill/policy.php). When a "veteran" poster pushes the envelope a little obviously Mordel and I are going to let it go unless it's way over the line. That's because unlike other places this is a friendly community where people are comfortable with each other, and a little poking fun at someone (especially another long-time poster) is what friends do.
It also hold true when a discussion starts to get a little "loud"--people that post as often as some of us will eventually disagree. But here at Mordel's most have seemed to have master the art of debate without making it personal. And to me that's what seperates us from the rest--the ability to disagree without being disagreeable.
Now for the part that seems obvious to me--new users have not earned the same rights and privlages as the "regular" crowd and are expected to follow the posting rules to the letter. Making a rude comment and adding a after it doesn't cut it.
This board is not a democracy. Mordel sets the rules for what is exceptable and what is not, and I help enforce those rules. When I am in doubt as to whether something violates those rules or not I lock the topic and bring it to Mordel's attention. But if there is no doubt I take the appropriate action; be it locking the topic or deleting the offending post/thread.
So if you think the rules are not being enforced equally odds are you're probably right. That's because most of the veterans here feel like this is more than just a messageboard, that's it's a place for friends to hang out. And sometimes friends get a little rowdy with each other.
As has been said numerous times before, everyone is welcome at Mordel's Bar & Grill until they prove that they don't belong here. And if that happens they will be asked to leave.

Ok, first, I didn't consider this place in a Gestapo state of policing where senority equals authority. I thought we were all her to have fun and bullshit a little. Mex just arrived here, and looking at the topioc about him, (although I know nothing about whathe did before) it seemed like he was going to get a clean slate. He only asked politly for a message in a signature to be altered because it could be taken offensively.

Well, I took that offensivly because it was not a sure thing that my team would lose, IMHO that's like saying "they suck, you already lost, give me the cash now." "My" team is my home team, the Detroit Red Wings, which I already established. I use the term "my" to signify that their the home team of Michigan, where MY residence is located.
Now, in your post in the Announcements section, you talk about members "disagreeing without being disagreeable." Where is the "being disagreeable" line drawn? Someone says something, I say something back. I have no idea how long the "seniors of the board" have been here. I've been here since early February and posted every day, I considered myself a regular. It was never stated in the posting rules that "you can't disagree with someone", which whenever I disagree with someone it's interpeted as a personal attack because I offended someone who's been here before me. When someone disagrees me, I will not just lay back and take it, i'm going to respond, and I didn't give a damn who it was, because I treat everyone with the same amount of respect, from a newbie to a charter member (I don't know who they are, its a figure of speech). Now, I'm not intending to start shit and piss everyone off, but it seems I am. I can't find where you draw the line, so I'm just gonna stay at the start, because I'm not sure who is a "friend of the board" and has these senority privledges, that's never stated. I assumed we were all equal, but apparently not.

Calm down.
He isn't saying it's based on senority, it's based on familiarity. I do a lot of stuff that by all rights should get me banned, but it's my quirks and the people here know and love them. So they slide. And we can have some good natured barb throwing. Like right now I'm going to say something that really is a personal attack, but is tempered with love:
ICER! You suck!
And no one will say or do anything because it's cool. But I don't do certain things that I KNOW would get me slapped around.
All he's saying is be cool, throw around a few good natured barbs and never, ever, EVER reply to certain people and you will have no problem.

Just to let you know Ares, MEX didn't "just" arrive here, he's been here before. And he caused many problems. When the "new" Bar & Grill was opened all people were welcomed with a "clean slate" so to speak. But when you start acting in the same manner as before that slate gets filled up real quick.
And it seems that you read a whole lot into some good natured barbing about your team. You're going to run into far more people that dislike the Wings than like them. And when you post you like them you will get people saying they dislike them.
At no time did she becaome in any remote was disrespectful to YOU, she did take a shot at the team you root for. So feel free to take a shot at the team she roots for--but make it personal and you'll be gone. Period.
And what Cadet says is true, it's familiarity. And as of right now you don't have the sort of relationship with anyone on this board that would allow you to take liberties that other's can. You're welcome to hang around and allow relationshipls like that to grow, but as of right now you're one who should be more concerned about what you post and not others.
