Instead of using dice for btech. use playing cards.
Here is how it would works.
The players each get their own deck of cards(with Jokers) You play the game as always. But when it comes to fireing. You say what weapons you are fireing. Then draw a card for each of the weaspons fired.
Your oppenet will also draw for each weapon fired at him. If your card is highier than your oppennet. you hit. if lower. you miss. If you draw a Joker. it is a auto hit with a crit. If they draw a Joker. any ballstic weapons you fired. Locks up.
You still resolve location with a dice roll.
I got this idea from the fairy Meat game. whose mini rules are alot like Btech.
Well. what do you think? (Besides the fact I need a Dicti..Ditic...dictoi...book that helps you spell.)

I did not expect people to be enthusiastic about it. But it is just a silly idea that I thought I would share.
And it should make for a faster game as well.
As the title says. Another wacky idea.

Herb Barents came up with a system of using cards instead of dice and while different, it only seemed to work for who moved and fired and nothing else.
Then there was his idea of taking one of the boxes that dice come in putting two in there taping or gluing it shut and then rolling for you and all you did was move the mechs you ran.
Nice ideas, but they seem to take away the idea that players make their own fate...

If I don't get to roll dice....I don't play! Dang it man, taking away dice-rolling would be like castration! I would walk away before hanging up my dice bag...walk

The funny part was after the battle he was running, a Solair Arena fight no less with 8 players with only 3 knowing the Arena rules...he dropped the idea of only him rolling the dice...
