No, no. read again my post. Move the MRBC to Northwind, but make it an independent body as it was before the ComStar schism and the Dragoons took over.
Northwind is an independent world and neutral, and conveniently located. The Highlanders would not have any participation in the running of the hiring halls. The planetary government would benefit indirectly from the income of visitors, wich is not that great.
Basically the Highlanders hire Northwind as office space for the MRBC and the hiring halls, and we can create a "Solaris VII" like for mercs on the next FM. No fees, no Outreach university, no training facilities, no Warship fleet policing the jump points, no obligation to shuttle transfer to the planet and all that nonsense.
Nothing of that existed in Galatea and it's not needed.
We aren't replacing the Draggons with the Highlanders, we are just getting rid of the Dragoon munch exceses and moving the hiring hall to the closest convenient location. _________________ Memento audare semper

I still think that there is a far way to developed hatred of anything not directly evolving from 3025 on this board. I mean its just a damn game, who gives two craps if the Dragoons have warships or not? Hell FASA died and WizKids is going to destroy the whole universe and make everyone use ICE mechs cause fusion technology is going to be so rare.
I'd say the 3025 group would be estatic, but then again, I'm just me.

Hehehe Your not alone Raven, Ive seen a lot of hatred for any Non 3025 timeline. I personally like the WD's, I tend to play Merc anyway and having them their as a source for contracts and what not is cool. And as far as Wizkids goes they destroyed battle tech when they announced the clik-a-mech B$%#@$*T! if they had been intellegent they would have picked up from where everything left off.
Are the WD to beg? Mabey. Is thier going to be something that happens about it? Dont know, well see. Do I really care what they do or what happens to them? No. My friends and I use the universe as a backdrop for our storyline and tend to ignore what we dont like. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". It's okay units like small lance or company size mercs to have nothing but Clan tech and the parts to keep them up and running but it's wrong and munchy for a merc unit who after years of fighting and such to finially get a home planet and feel that they need to defend it.
Once again, the Dragoons have one planet, they are stuck there for all time. They have a population to defend and feed, so what if they have a deal with a mech factory...not like that would be uncommon. Hell what better way to prove your mechs work then to have a merc unit use them, thus convining the House Lords to buy them.
Yes, they have a small fleet, that is totally setup to defend the Outreach Solar System. Wow...and that makes them ubermunch? Some how I think the role of the Dragoons was lost on some around here.
Now the Hounds have how many worlds in the ARDC to defend? And they have an added bonus the Dragoons don't, the Hounds have the WiE working with them, living with them and training with them. I don't see Phelan sending the Dragoons supplies or help.
And if the Dragoons are such the supermen you are complaining about how come they were not hired to fight in Operation Bulldog? If they were so perfect then why were they torn to pieces on Convetry?
I am sorry but I find this bashing of the larger merc units to be nuts. Each one of them has something that balances out their advantages and they are not running around as Old Dog claims playing king maker. The Dragoons are not involved with the Civil War that is going on. The Hounds are involved, but to what point is not all that clear. The EDL is now a SLDF unit, and the Highlanders are doing their own thing on Northwind.
So far I don't see any of the points you or Old Dog have raised as vaild that are not countered to some degree by the canon facts of the game.
