Overview:
Designed as a recon 'mech specializing in rough and broken terrain, the Greyhound entered
service late in the 2500s, often replacing the Locust on planets that had limiting terrain
such as forests and mountains.
Capabilities:
The Greyhound is incredibly fast, at the expense of jump capability. Though many cite its'
lack of jump capability as too restricting in the terrain it was supposedly designed to
operate in, the Greyhound was designed with high-powered, hydraulic climbing claws on the
"toes" of the 'mech, allowing it to slowly climb many near-vertical surfaces. As a safety
feature to aid in climbing, each foot has a small video camera mounted on it. Savvy pilots
have developed a trick known as "toe-peeking", whereby a pilot will stop at a corner and
stick a foot out to look around.
Offensively, the Greyhound stacks up well against most of its counterparts, mounting a Holly
missile system and Chiscomp 39 laser as the primary weapons, with a single Mydron Minigun as
anti-infantry backup.
Defensively however, the Greyhound is merely average for a light 'mech, relying on speed
instead of armor for protection.
Most pilots enjoy Greyhound duty, as the 'mech is quite easy to handle, and runs
exceptionally cool.

Operationally very similar to a Locust, but not as robust, which can be a limitation.
With it's SRM launcher I'd use this primarily for incendiary duty.
I'd also strip a few points of armor from the head and beef up the torsos a bit.

I like the speed though it could use more armour. With it's quad configuration I would station this mech in artic regions where the added stability could give it a distinct advantage. A usefull variant would drop the SRM for more armour. Over all a useful design for it's era.

I completely agree with Sleeping Dragon. I'm embarresed to say this but I didn't even realize it was a quad. -_-
I thought that the mech was already decent but the quad, IMO, I thought was a nice touch.

Nice mech, quite similar to the Locust, but even with this climbing equipment mentioned fluff it isn't too well suited for rough terrain, especially when you may be ambushed easily and weak armor won't save you. 0.5 point up for being quad :)
