    Long a trooper 'Mech of the Lyran Commonwealth, the Zeus is a low-end assault machine that
    is capable at many jobs, but truly excels at none. Built as a line of battle machine, it
    complements an assortment of other 'Mechs in their duties.

    Like it's brethren, the Zeus-7S mounts an eclectic mix of weapons, all of which build on
    what has come before. The designers kept the LRM-15 rack, as well as the pair of standard
    medium lasers, but deepened the ammunition stores for the long range missiles, as well as
    added an Artemis IV fire control system to ensure that more missiles hit their targets. The
    standard large lasers or extended range large lasers of earlier models were replaced by an
    extended range particle cannon in the left torso. In the left arm, a "back to basics"
    approach was taken, but was also improved upon in this new model. Instead of the tried and
    true type 5 autocannon, a dual-purpose type 10 autocannon was installed, with two tons of
    ammunition so that the MechWarrior could switch between standard slug and cluster
    Using up much tonnage for its new weapons load, and the decision to not use a lighter weight
    engine meant that not much could be done in the way of improvement for the defenses for the
    Zeus-7S. CASE was installed in both side torsos to ensure that ammo explosions would not
    destroy the 'Mech. Additionally, while the armor tonnage didn't change, the swap to
    ferro-fibrous armor ensured that the torso and leg armor was improved. Changing the internal
    structure to endo-steel "bones" allowed for these changes to be made without reducing speed
    or installing a much more expensive, but lighter weight, fusion engine.
