Overview:
    The mercenary group, the Blood Eagles, fled New Oslo during the Clan Wars in 3050 - taking
    with them an extraordinary number of technicians and factory workers from Gorton, Kingsley &
    Thorpe Enterprises (GKT). They wandered the stars travelling finally to Morgan Kell and the
    Arc Royal Defense Cordon. By 3057, the Blood Eagles were given land and title on the planet
    Mkuranga where the mercenary group began to develop custom battlemechs.
    
    The first design was the Ostrich, named after the largest and most powerful bird on Earth.

Capabilities:
    The commanders of the Blood Eagles are dedicated to bird themes and prefer battlemechs that
    can jump, or "fly like an eagle." It was funny to designers that the commanders would choose
    the name "Ostrich" which is a flightless bird.
    
    The battlemech is largely a short-range weapon, featuring medium lasers and short-ranged
    missiles. A large laser does keep the Ostrich useful at long range.

Deployment:
    The Ostrich was first deployed on the planet of Mkuranga in which it defended Spiral City
    from the rebel sand people of the southern deserts. The Ostrich was overwhelmed by the enemy
    and was destroyed, but the machine took a tremendous pounding and last longer than most
    anticipated.

Variants:
    There are no known variants.

Notable MechWarriors:
    Baron Sigrid Orn is an old Viking-like warrior. He has a long forked bearded and wears
    silver arm bands like his ancestors. Sigrid has been part of the Blood Eagles from the start
    in 3034 and a loyal man. Sigrid was awarded the first new production battlemech, the
    Ostrich, for his service though it was destroyed in its first battle.
