Overview:
Effective and affordable assault mechs are always in demand. An tank manufacturer wanted to
change its image and get in on what it deemed as a ripe market. Thus it obtained the plans
to the failed Daboku (Mauler's predescessor) and reworked it as well as upgraded their
factory to accomadate limited mech manufacturing.
With reduced development cost and a price tag of nearly 50% less then the "MAL-1R Mauler",
the company deemed their venture a success. Unfortunately zero sales would prove otherwise.
Capabilities:
The autocannons and LRMs were removed for twin MRM 20 racks, providing the design with
comparable firepower, albeit at shorter ranges. What this allows for however is an increase
in survivability by adding a substantial amount of armor and removing the vulnerable and
expensive XL engine. An ECM unit helps to shield the unit even further while jump jets and a
C3i systems allows for some additional utility.
Three medium pulse lasers were added to provide some extra short range firepower and were
specifically chosen for bracket usage. This helps new pilots with grouping their weapons
fire and allows the Daboku II to act as an unorthodox but effective training mech.
Deployment:
Despite promising trials, few actually know of the design due to poor campaigning and
exposure. Besides the benefits of taking short cuts in utilizing an older design, the cons
of the Daboku's reputation was also inherited. Only time will tell if the design can make a
name for itself.
Poor marketing and name choice has seemingly condemned this mech to obscurity.

Actually reminds me a bit of the Penetrator, only replacing a few medium pulses with MRMs to have a nice Long-Medium-Short bracketing of weapons. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator
