The Mauler. Sure it looks cool, but it has 4 AC2 and ammo. 26 tons worth

Then it hit me...Armor Piercing rounds...a 24 hex range...just stick that puppy up on top of a hill and shoot all day. I mean you still have 45 shots total.
The perfect sniper mech.

| Well sitting on top of a hill was the entire point of the mech. Its all range, its a fire support mech like the archer.

Would be nasty against VTOLs and Tanks at range, and could knock out bunkers, installations, and command centers with impunity if they lack the long range weaponry of the AC2. Excellent fire support mech, perhaps not as effective against mechs.

It is an OK mech, but man does it look cool. And as far as I car, cool does count for something in a game.

Maybe we should rename it as "The Stinger", for that amazing damage curve, hm? 
Then again, its autocannons *outweigh* a Stinger, which is just a crying shame.
One of these days, I need to put a Mauler against a 3025 Charger, just to see...

I think my version works out well...go standard armor, up to 16.5 tons (264 pts), move ER LLs to side torsos, up heat sinks to 12, remove ACs and LRMs...replace LRMs with 4 LRM-5 racks (2 per side torso) with a ton ammo per pair, keep CASE in side torsos, add 2 med lasers to CT...on arms, add a LB-10X each and place 2 tons ammo for each LB in the side torsos...keeps the LRM/Laser/AC combo of the original design, slightly downgrades range, but gives better damage profile once in range and gives greater shortrange firepower...and increase armor by more than 33%...

Then it is not a Mauler, but a Mugger, or some other name. Using my following fire rules it is more deadly, but per the normal game, many more fearfull mechs out there.
