Tukayyad, Twycross, Tennessee...
Wherever it happened it was pretty lame. To get offed by jump jets, give me a fricken break!

Yeah, that was pretty lame. And what's even worse is they made an L3 rule out of it.

Wait a sec.
I knew that Nat was dead, having done the "I'll hold off the villains at the bridge while you guys run off" schtick, but...
She was killed by jump jets?
*Jump* *Jets*?!
Say it ain't so! How'd this happen?
Stupid stupid stupid...

Th Thurston invented Jump Jet Attack, as per "I Am Jade Falcon", IIRC...
Joanna was sent to fight her (Ravill Pryde sent her rather than a real warrior as she was so old it didn't matter the age of her opponent being so advanced)...Natasha had her, all weapons destroyed or somesuch and then the Black Widow CLOSED RANGE for some reason, rather than using her Dire Wolf's long range firepower to off the Green Chicken...
Joanna woke up, saw her coming, couldn't find a weapon, so she raised her 'Mech's foot and blasted Natasha's cockpit with the jump jets mounted there...
Munchy and cheesy, eh?

Ugh!
Ugh ugh ugh ugh ugh.
That is so *horribly* lame.
Gawd.
I'd always thought that she fought for a couple of hours in her Marauder, knocking down one Clanner after another.
Geeeeze...

People get killed by Jet Blast every day, well, almost every day. There was at one time a rule that any mech behind a Marauder took some damage from the exhaust vents on its back.
Plasma shooting out of a small portal is plasma shooting out of a small portal, it'll melt your armor and kill you dead.

Then why doesn't it melt the armor of the 'Mech that it's mounted on?

It still contacts some part of the 'Mech, if just the ports themselves and the area directly underneath...
Pressure from the blast, I might be able to understand, but if you are talking completely plasma based, why doesn't it also damage the 'Mech it's on?

I don't know, maybe it runs through a containment system or something, like a fusion bottle or something. Battletech never made sense.

Well, jump jets are nothing more than air, actually, heated by running air near fusion conduits (Plasma conduits?) ... Bottles of air are added to a mech in space, so it'll have something for short bursts.
So, basicly, a jump jet's nothing more than a really big dryer.
As Mechs can easily survive re-entry, something as minor as a jump jet shouldn't do much to one at *all*, unless it was used to kick up rocks and shrapenl and so forth. Even then, the damage would be cosmetic.
I'm reminded of why I don't read any Stackpole-era novel, now. Ugh.

How about the erorr where Pardoe give Nat's mech ferror armor...I don't recall the Dire Wolf aka the Dashi ever having ferror armor...
And since when did it take two IS brigades to take out 60 Clan mechs and elemenatls??? I can understand wanting to win, but to toss that many mechs at a mere 60 is overkill and a poor showing of tactical judgement on Adam Stiener's part...oh and when did he become a military genius? What cartoon episode was that in?

Two bats is, what, generally 80 mechs?
80 IS mechs attacking vs 60 Clan Mechs defending?
This isn't a battle, this is a waste of resources.
Typically, this will result in the IS forces taking about 50% casualties before breaking, while the victorious Clanners will lose between ten and twenty machines, depening on a host of factors.
That Steiner won this is mind-boggling.
