Overview:
The Banshee BNC-3Mg (or "Magnesium" as it is more widely known) is an upgrade of the Star
League era Banshee BNC-3M design. The aim of this was to merely make the 'Mech usable on the
battlefields of the early 32nd Century. A multi-trillionaire who collected Star League era
Battlemechs had recently died, and without an heir, his assets had been sold at auction. One
of the lots was 30 BNC-3Ms. The 'Mechs were little more than spare parts - you could've
produced this 'Mech easily at the height of the Succession Wars, when all the technological
advancements of the Star League had been lost to the mists of time. As such, no one was
particularly interested in the BNC-3Ms and the only bidders were two rival salvage
companies, that is until an anonymous bidder offered to pay 240 Million C-Bills upfront for
them (over 80% of the original price of each 'Mech!). The media went wild trying to work out
who in their right mind would pay so much for what were effectively walking scrap heaps.
Seven years later, they got their answer, except by this point the HPG Blackout had occurred
and no one really knew what was going on anywhere, nor did anyone particularly care about
the outrageous purchase of some ancient Banshees.
It was quite a shock for the Draconis Combine, however, when as they attempted to claim the
planet of Cylene (which had historically been a Federated Suns world) from the Republic of
the Sphere, their advance force was ambushed and destroyed by Arctic Silence (who was on
contract to the Fed' Suns). Among the battalion of Battlemechs which Arctic Silence deployed
were 30 black Banshees, all of which were a model unrecognised by the Combine. Due to not
knowing whether there were more Arctic Silence forces already inserted onto the planet, the
Combine called off the entire operation. This was one of the major factors which led to
Arctic Silence signing the ASFSA Agreement with the Federated Suns.
Capabilities:
Despite being an upgrade of the ancient BNC-3M, the -4Mg is quite different from the
original model. The single Heat Sinks were upgraded to Double Strength versions, the mighty
380 Standard Fusion engines were replaced with LFE versions, an XL Gyroscope was installed,
the skeleton was upgraded to an Endo Steel Version and the armour coverage was increased
from 15 tons to 17 tons. The weapons configuration was upgraded more radically. The PPCs of
the original were replaced with ER versions, while the two medium lasers and small laser
were replaced with five Medium X-Pulse Lasers. These weapons were all linked to a Targeting
Computer for unbelievable accuracy. A C3 Slave was also included to allow the -4Mg to share
targeting data with its lance.
Deployment:
In 3138, the BNC-4Mg was selected to be part of the elite bodyguard lance of Jarrel
Wolfstein (Commander-in-Chief of the Arctic Silence Armed Forces and heir to Arctic Silence
in its entirety).

I don't know whether to use the 5 Medium X-Pulse Lasers shown here or 9 Medium Lasers with an extra ton of armour. I have the crits to use either one and they weigh the same, but I just don't know which option is better. Suggestions anyone? _________________ Times change.

For better to-hit ratio, the X-Pulses are the better choice. I _________________ Sir Henry

Im a fan of the standard Medium Laser, but it comes down to what you think your target numbers are going to be.
