INCREDIBLE!!
the USA team makes it to the quarter finals of the World Cup!! Something that countries with long established footabll traditions can only dream of!!
I wasn't betting a Mexican peso on the US, but looks like they have the luck of the newcomers!!
Amazing, simply amazing. This is a very strange World Cup where anything is possible!
It also proves this point that so far this World Cup is a triumph of muscle over skill.
My congratulations to all you, hope this will make you true football fans of all you
In next round you'll meet Germany, give the Krauts a trashing!!

HEY, I am a big football fan. But around these parts, that ain't football. It's soccer. Which is a close second.

In a World Cup there aren't friends, it's like the Highlander movie, there can only remain one
Simply put, If Germany wins, we see you in the semifinals, I'd rather take my chances with the US.
And besides, the majority of the people areound here are Americans, it's wise to congraciate with them _________________ Memento audare semper

USA USA USA USA USA
And boy and I missing sleep. Took a little nap this morning. My boss new I was going to be late for work.
Yep time to kick some Gernamy uber Alles but. They took us to town a few months before the cup in a friendly. So Jymset.... ready to take on the erradic Americans??!!
No Vamp, not muscle, luck and the referee. I am seeing so many bad calls in this tournement. We had one called off for a phantom foul against Poland, but then no call for the hand ball against Mexcio. The Americans are not the best but we are good. We have something we have never had, depth in the attacking positions. We can put attacks together, but we are better pack attack scavangers. Loose ball or and open field and we can beat anyone.
Would love to face the Spainards. But we need to undermine the German team first.

The US will have to stike first. If Not, then down they go. They don't play catch up well....

That is a two-edged sword: Sure, the above is definitely the US' way of playing, and they're very, very good at it. HOWEVER: Germany, trust you me, knows about this very 'tactic'. They're gonna work hard to keep tight, especially in the early parts of the game. Also, unless you expand on an early lead, you won't be able to buy much with it. Germany DO play catch up, very well indeed. (Apart from against England last year.....yeah.....)
Either way, Friday will be a blast. And I'll tell you here and now: Should the US win, they will have deserved it. No ifs and buts, and for the rest of the Championship my sympathies will be with them (must be your Utopia: FINAL: Brasil vs US......). _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

By the way, Johannes...
I was surprised by the animosity Germans show to Spain, not only the sports media, but the numerous personal accounted I've heard of Spaniards in Germany being snubbed. At first I attributed this to the typical disdain Northern Europe countries have for Mediterranean ones, though this is news to me, Germany was never in that league, and Spain and Germany have always had good relationship. I thounk it might be an unpleasant side effect of German reunification, but that's what a French or English would thought...
and then I realized it, heavens, there are a lot of people in Germany still smarting about the Real Madrid defeating the Bayern Munich and the Bayer Leverkussen in the Champions League this year, nicht war?
heheheheheeeee and they say Spaniards are envious..

Yup, sehr wahr......
There are 2 full-blown and two semi- competitors to German football in Europe (BTW: really, Europe is all that counts, no matter what people say about Brazil, Argentina, and all). The semi- ones can quickly be discounted: The French, 'one-day flies' to speak, they had great success based on the contemporary weakness of other great teams in the late '90s. Then there are the Dutch, who, this/last year embarrassed themselves thoroughly and lastingly enough to be discounted for all time to come!!!!
So what remains are the English and the Spanish. With the former, it is all in good spirit, because even after we get the occassional defeat (most noticably last year) we remain in good spirits, because, after all, we are better than them and always will be ;-P
Which leaves the Spaniards..... Well, let me tell you, even if on the whole we play fairly successful football against you..... We can't forget things like the Championsleague. Forget South Korea. Forget any other fans in this world! To play an outwards game in Madrid gives the term 'enemy grounds' new meaning!!!!!
Those games really put the fear into us. So yeah, the Spanish soccer team isn't the most well-liked we could face. It has nothing to do with national animosity......FAR FROM IT! It is more like a legacy from last season....
One last thing: Though the bull-necked average German falls into a lot of racist stereotypes*, the one that one could NOT support is an anti-Mediterranean feeling. Spain is probably Germany's favourite holiday destination, and Italy would probably take second place. 'Nuff said....
*Nothing to do with the national-socialism in our past..... it is more that the Nazis built on these latent tendencies in our race.....but this is enough stuff for a new topic in its own right. _________________ "Rear armour is defeatist!" - unknown Kuritan Mechwarrior

I think that if the USA gets behind, it's over. They don't have the Heart for the Comeback. Soccer(Europian Football) is the World's game except here. Here it's American Football. It will still take a couple more years until the Americans can say the have a handle on the Feeling produced by a good match.
Mind you, I'm not sayin' that they aren't good at it, just that they don't have the mindset oto become the World Cup Champs....
Sir HEnry, Still waiting for a Pull away favorite....

On a side note, did you guys hear about the Red Devil who killed himself? Damn guy immolated himself in kerosene and left a note saying he wanted to be on the field with his team in the next life. Some World Cup people are crazy (I think that the craziness factor is even worse than American Football) _________________ I have the right to remain silent.
