Overview:
The tale of the Tick is a tale of both success and failure. Wanting to continue the line of
bug ?Mechs, but wanting something a little different at the same time, the Tick was made as
a short of zombie machine; one that could take some punishment, but still keep coming
despite that damage. Although relatively slow for its size, it packs a credible pinch and a
decent amount of armor.
Capabilities:
The 20 ton frame is never going to win any competitions for strongest frame, but even so, it
can provide threats when properly designed and used in numbers. That is where the Tick comes
in to play. The engineers took the old adage about ?That mother is dug in like a prairie
tick?, and ran with it. Mounting 5 medium lasers spread across its torso locations as its
sole armament, the design can hit hard enough to knock an unprepared opponent flat on its
back. And since all the weapons are in the body of the BattleMech, its arms are free to
punch if needed, and the loss of them does not diminish its overall firepower. Three and a
half tons of armor is not much, but as the arms are mostly just damage sinks anyways, the
armor could be concentrated elsewhere, allowing the legs and all forward torso locations to
be able to absorb a heavy laser hit without going internal.
As indicated before though, the Tick is relatively slow for its size, being only able to
reach a top speed of 86kph, and leap 150 meters at a time.
Deployment:
The Tick never did gain much favor with most Inner Sphere warriors, so it did not remain in
production long, and few mourned the loss of its production plant partway through the
Succession Wars.
Notable MechWarriors:
Few know where he came from, but many whisper tales of a cobalt blue-painted Tick piloted by
a very reckless MechWarrior who has a habit of shouting ?SPOON!!!? at high volume through
his external speakers during combat. No one knows why he does this, or why he fights, but he
does also appear to be often accompanied by a Ferret VTOL painted with what appears to be
either a white rabbit or possibly a white moth on its undercarriage and wrapping around to
its sides. Witnesses aren?t sure of the nature of the painting due to its crudeness, the
fact it spreads over so many different areas of the vehicle and the shear speed of the
aircraft.
