Damn!! You beat me to it! I was a bout to comment it.

I saw the last part of it, the Korean goal in minute 88' that tied the match, and the final goal of the Koreans in the extra tiem five minutes before the penalty series.

I had a feeling of deja vu seeing the match. I never thought I would see again another dramatic spetacle like this. It was practically a replay of our match against the Irish, including a lopsided (bribebd) referee in favor of Korea. Though this time the ones that deserved to win were the "attacker" side, and all the anguish and the suffering and heroism was with the Koreans too.

The Italian goalie even stopped a penalty during the match, the resmeblances are eerie.

So another historic chamion bites the dust, should we feel sorry for the Italians because of the unfairness suffered?

Hell no!!

The Italian teams are a bunch of bastards that have always won playing a destructive game. Everybody entrenched ain front of their gate, and waiting for the chance shot or the trickery to score the minimum goals to win. It has always worked, but now looks like the spaghetti's luck has ran out.

Korea, regardless of the ref's help, was the just winner. Their effort and their sacrifice well deserved a reward, and their goals came through gameplay, they owed nothing to penalty calls.

Spain is meeting Korea in the quarterfinals, I'm glad that Korea has done the dirty job for us and has kicked the spaghetti out, giving them what they deserve. It will be a hellish match, but I preferr to fall against a honorable opponent rather than losing to the Italian cheaters.

by the way, the similarities are eerie, the Korean goalkeeper stopped miracously a certain shot, Italian Vieri missed inexplicably a shot at a empty gate (just as an Irish failed his penalty) and the Italians ended up with ten men (they lost Totti expelled) and they too had one of the men still standing on the field injured.

Another thought: the ref. He was horrible, and favored one side. Interestingly, the ref of our match was Swedish, and historically north European people have a bias against Mediterranean countries (or football teams in our case) so it was not surprising he sided with the Irish. I was counting on that before the match, but I never imagined such blatant robbery.

Now, the ref of the Korea-Italy match was... from Ecuador, and Ecuador was eliminated in the first round by Italy so...

"No I'm not bitter about that, honest, I just have orders from the top to help Korea so the FIFA can make more money by promoting football TV audiences in Asia"

I'm worried about Korea? Yes, a bit. I'm worried about a unfair ref? Who cares? After that @#$%&! Swedish ref, nothing worse can happen, and we triumphed despite it.

Apart from your views on Germany's soccer (which I do understand, though), I have nothing to add to any of your analysis. Now I'm just worried about whom I want to win between Spain and Korea. Apparently the Spanish team, though arguably a better team than the German one, fits our style of playing, and we'd have good odds (according to quite a few football greats of our country). However, I do have sympathy for Korea, for their perpetually horrible political state of the last 50 or so years. And also, because my best friend back in my Australian years was a South Korean......

But, either way, WE'LL TAKE YOU ON!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Beware US! Beware Spain! Beware Brasil.......er.....oh....hang on.....

The Italians just destroyed whatever good reputation they had left. The Korean who scored the winning goal in the World Cup match has been kicked from the Italian club he played in. Way to go!

Don't be an idiot, do you really think those things are forgiven or forgotten? If that player tried to return to the team, he would be lynched by a mob. And I approve, I'd do the same.

And by the way, they were going to fire him already before the mundial, so no relation, just coincidence.
