This one was inspired by Talen's question. Now, according to AT2, there are set weights for mech, fighter, small craft, and vehicle bays. However, does this mean that only one unit can occupy each bay, or can any (reasonable) number up to that total occupy that bay? (remember, in DRT, a pair of light mechs were jerry-rigged so that they could occupy the same bay.)

By official rules there can only be one in each bay. But I prefere to allow up to two in each bay, totaling the weight listed. I know that I created some house rules for this, but I cannot remember what I did with them.

legally only 1 mech per bay.
the bay's weight allows you to clamp down a mech for transit and do repairs.
the weight of the bay is 150 tons ack!!!
too heavy for a light machine.
if i were you, i would cut the weight down to 100 tons for a light and medium mech.
and the full 150 tons on heavyies and assaults.
just a thought

Part of the weight of the bay goes towards the living quarters for the mechwarrior/pilots and the technicians. The rest of it would go towards the clamps and the gantries used to secure the mech, and the drop mechanisms. These weights won't vary much with the weight of the mech, so there really is no point to designating light bays and heavy bays, like with vehicles. The only reason why I think that it works for vehicles is that larger vehicles have more crew members and therefore need more bunks.
