Has anyone here heard of or used any alternative rules for determining firing order? Something that does not involve assuming units fire simultaneously.

It's part of the Solaris rules...

That's lame, and puts too much emphasis on initiative.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? You could always do it the way it's actually published and have both players declare their fire before they fire. Write it down on a sheet, then fire. Something like that. I guess I don't understand what the purpose you are trying to get at is. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

I think he was just asking if a system like that existed.

I was just wondering if a system existed for mech combat where firing (and hence damage resolution) was not considered simultaneous. The simultaneous system works ok for slugging matches, but is restrictive for hit and run tactics. I'm pretty sure clickytech will not be simultaneous, but I wanted to try something more akin to classic Btech before looking to Wizkids for an answer.

Then the initiative system is the best you'll get, I would imagine. _________________ Mordel Blacknight - Site Administrator

The deck of cards system works pretty well in my opinion.

But in that system (presuming you're talking about the way we do it at TotalCon) even though we declare/fire by initiative the damage is still simultaneous.
