Hi all,

in the Martial Olympiad the ProtoMechs have GUNNERY ZERO !
Too bad that i can't use my entire point in the MO scenarios

The Rifleman RFL-3N(C) combines 2 Lage Pulse Lasers + 2 LB 5-X AC with GUNNERY 2 / PILOTING 2 in the MO scenarios.
I think a lot of people will use this 2nd line mech in the Martial Olympiad.

P.S.: Hi Clutch,
i noticed that my Clan Blood Spirits Jump Infantry Platoon SRM must have 21 members because of the BV of 71 !
Usually The Clans use 25 ( or 20 ) men in a Infantry Platoon.
Are you sure that the data i got from registrating for the MO is correct ?

The MO is a good idea, unfortunately it is not support in my area. Too few players out this way.

Dont give up !

You have time until the end of august to participate in the MO.
Just registrate a player ( i live in Vienna and have #1030 ) before it is too late.
Maybe one of the new Commando's will organize a MO event near you.

Are you sure? The last I read the rules, Protos fell under the rule that states that you have to multiply their BV by 5 before you cross reference their skills. Depending on teh Proto, you could get gunnery skills ranging from 0 to 5 or so.

Either way, I included some Protos in my force selection so I could have some flexibility in my battle plans.

In the Olympiad Introduction only Infantry/BattleArmor have to be multiplied by 5. Where do you read that ProtoMechs have to be multiplied by 5 too ?

It may have been on the older version of the rules. Either that, or I assumed that Protos fell under the Infantry/Battlearmor category. Oh well, it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong Neutral

Hmmm, if you don't have to multiply the protos BV, then I could have had better Protos. Then again, the protos I did sign up with will just be all the better!

I checked the document again and had to discover that they had changed the rules in the meantime Neutral

Now i have a entire STAR of ProtoMechs !
Which means that i have a total of 32 units ( if you count the Elemental BA and Infanty platoons as a single unit ).

But having 5 Roc's with a Gunnery of 3 each instead of a single Roc with Gunnery 0 isn't too bad

Yup. A decent Proto design can be as effective as a lower end light mech, and when you have 5 of the buggers running around counting as a single unit because 5 protos make a point, you can really mess up someone's day.

But only if you can move each ProtoMech for its own !
If the Commando's rule that you have to move your point of ProtoMechs like a point of Elementals, ProtoMechs loose much of their flavour

well, if basic infantry cannot be allowed to break up into their 7 man squads, I do no think the protos should be allowed to move around seperately as well.

Of course, i say that because i won't be using protos

Well, I figure that since the miniatures for Protomechs are separate for each individual Proto, then they probably will be moved independently. Infantry and elemental minis tend to be mounted together on one hex base, and take damage as a unit, but the individual protos each get their own hex base and take damage separately.

At least I hope so...

I may want to go over the protomech rules at least one more time before my MO battles...

Accourding to TR 3060 a single ProtoMech counts as a vehicle unit for stacking purposes.

As only a maximum of 4 units fits into a single hex, there is no way to place a entire point of ProtoMechs in a single hex.

Infantry Platoons & BattleArmor Points count as a single unit. They dont split up into singe squads or BattleArmors accordung to the BTMR.

For those that care, I think the rules for this thing have changed a couple times--or at least have been "clarified". You might want to head over to CBT and check out the appropriate forum there.

Max tech rules. Infantry platoons can split up into squads of 7 men each. Rather than running around as 1 big target of 21-28 guys. They would then also get the bonus +1 that battlesuits get when someone is trying to shoot at them due to the small group formation size.
