NOTE - This lets some of you get a taste of my system, and shows the people who have volunteered to design for me what set up I'd like to get them in! Enjoy!

Gargoyle Medium Fighter
Total Weight: 15 tons
Country of Origin: Union of Free Worlds
Manufacturer: Free Worlds Armory - Aerospace Plant 3
Chassis: Unified Constructs Type 2
Engine Type: Nova Class 12
Armor: Hard Plate (Enhanced)
Armament:
1x Union Standard Type 1 Blasterr
2x Union Standard Type 2 Blaster
16x Flogger AAM Guided Missiles
Electronics Suite: Union Blue Series XIV

=== Overview ===
The Gargoyle Medium Fighter is a classic example of the Union of Free Worlds manufacturing. One of the earlier Union of Free Worlds short range interceptor, the Gargoyle has gone on to become a mass produced weapons system available in almost any corner of human colonized space. Indeed, from its dawning day against the Unified Worlds of Earth in the Second Union War, the Gargoyle has been seen in almost every major conflict. It is produced, under licence, on a large majority of worlds and is seen as, perhaps, one of the best Medium Class fighters in existence.

The Gargoyle Medium Fighter is a classic high speed interceptor. Its a workhorse design made reliable and easy to maintain. A tandem two seater fighter, the Gargoyle uses a classic fuselage mounted engine with a swept wing for entry and exiting an atmosphere. Able to reach speeds near Mach 2 in atmosphere, and able to sustain a 6 G acceleration in space for almost two minutes, the Gargoyle is able to reach any battle field. Seen on carriers and on fixed land fields it is a highly versatile design, capable of STOL manuvers. It is usually the first line of defense for any Union of Free Worlds colony or station.

=== History ===
The Gargoyle was first conceived in 2308, twenty seven years before the Second Union War, but only a few short years after the First War. The Unified Worlds of Earth, and their Fleet, had taught the Union of Free Worlds the importance of maintaining space superiority around a planet. The Warhammer Heavy Fighter of the UWE had trounced everything that the UFW had thrown at it. To counter such a powerful weapon, the UFW came up with the idea of the Gargoyle, a mass produced fighter craft that would smash aside anything thrown at it through the use of team work.

The entire basis of the Gargoyle is set up around the Union Blue Series XIV electronics suite and the 16 "Flogger" AAM Guided Missiles. The Guided Missiles use a striped down version of the Blue Series electronics in their targeting computers, allowing a wing of Gargoyle's to have quick and accurate communications with little deteriation between members. Secondly, it appears possible for one fighter to fire missiles for the whole group, coordinating all the fire like a single warmachine. This impressive ability is very helpful as it allows pilots to concentrate on either firing their blasters or avoiding incoming fire, while one second seat pilot controls missiles and their trajectories using the combined power of all of their computers. This unique system was discovered by Pilot Laura Hood, who led the successful defense of the UFW Colony "Fanuilh." The ten fighters of her wing fought back a force of eight fighters, two armed frieghters and one light cruiser dispatched from a nearby Independent World. They were, of course, awarded the Distinquished Flying Cross and Sword for their actions.

=== Varients ===
The Primary varient has two medium blasters and one light blaster as its primary weapons systems. Although not very impressive, in and of themselves, they have been combined with 16 powerful Flogger AA Guided Missiles. The Flogger System, a varient of the classic AA/AS Medium Guided Missile, has proven to be very effective in most combat trials. Used again and again by the UFW, they are a time proven system. Together the combination of blasters and missiles has made for a very strong, classic dueler. The missiles are used for attack, as the foil, and the blasters used in defense, as the dagger. It is a tough combination to beat in the hands of a skilled pilot.

The next varient comes from the smaller, less technologically advanced sattelite nations. Nearly 1000 Gargoyles have been exported from the Union of Free Worlds, and because of this many knock off varients have been made. However, this is one of the few licecened varients. It is used primarily as a ground attack fighter, taking advantage of its aerodynamic shape to swoop down from a station or refueling satilite and bombard with rockets mounted in wing pods. The rockets can create a devestating pattern of fire over a long swath of territory. To protect itself from other fighters this varient mounts a fairly common Medium blaster. It should be noted that this unit usually does not include the classic Blue Series electronics suite, but something more common, such as the Wayfairer88.

The last varient of the machine uses almost nothing but powerful guided missiles, carrying nearly 54 in underwing and fuselage mountings. Designed to establish quick and deadly aerospace superiority the Beta varient is able to engage multiple targets quickly and effectively. With slight modifications to the programing of the missiles, this varient can also act as a ground attack system, laying down massive amounts of firepower on columns of unspecting enemy troops.

Yeah the real test will be to get a game going at some point. I need to make those rules for warships! Hopefully everything will go well with that and i'll have those out soon. First priority however is a paper i'm working on for a summer class.

Actually this is for my game system, not BattleTech, hence Cry Freedom. The system uses TRUE guided missiles, and the occasional dumb rocket rather then the mixtures BT has.

And as the AT2 rules will be changed soon (as a result of the HMAero beta test) you might not want to put too much work into it just yet

Really? Wow...had no clue that OUR playtesting was paying off gee...I wondered why Rick kept making updates and asking us to test them out.

On a nicer note I know that things are being worked on...still best test is to input all that can be done, different ideas and such and since I liked the fighter I thought hey what the heck...
