Would it not be better to arm the sub with LRTs? That way it can out range any BattleMechs that it might encounter?

In order to add even a LRM(T)5 and a ton of ammo, I would have to remove a ton of something. I would have to lower the speed and still have to remove armor, or just remove armor. In either situation the design would not last long enough for all of the ammo to be of any use to it.

Dude. Get rid of the lasers. Lasers underwater are useless. Replace them with an LRT5 or SRT2. Either way you are just reproducing a sub I made a while back. But still, not bad. Great minds think alike and all that.

Lasers are useless underwater? You do realize that these lasers have a range that is only one hex shorter then an SRM(T) would have, right? And besides, the speed of this design will allow it to close with other vehicles, shoot them and then fade back to strike later.

I doubt there is anyone here that has GM'd or played in more underwater scenarios than I (Mosh Pit comes to mind ). Trust me, dump the 2 ERMLs and take the SRT2 and the ammo.
That and stay away from mechs with ERPPCs...while you're banging away at max speed out of the range of either of your possible weapon systems you're in range of ERPPCs. That's something newbies to underwater combat often learn the hard way

How is it that an SRM(T)2 can be better then two ER meds? The lasers cause more damage with almost the same range and do not require ammo. The only upside I can see to them is that they cost less, 180,000 c-bill for the SRM2 vesrion, and can raise the BV, which could be a bad thing. To me a change in BV caused by switching to ammo weapons is not worth it, especially if the BV is higher.

The BV for an ERML is 60ish (63 I think, my book isn't handy), for an SRT2 is 21 and the ammo is 6 (might be 4).
So shouldn't your BV go down?

You are right. I was basing first BV on the hand-calculated version. And VF mis-calculates or just uses an old system.
I still dislike the idea of an ammo based vehicle. Even if it will die quickly. Then again, I hate ammo weapons, period.
BV(ER Med)= 62. (I cannot believe I remeber that. Must have a good mind for numbers.)

I'm not certain our new friend Sarkkahn is that familiar with the game (or it's history), so a lot of the terms we are using are foreign to him.
Hmmm, you get 3 missile varients per laser varient. Just think of all the flooded units you get to salvage using a ton of those

Whoa. I never thought about the flooding of mechs. That would be great advantage for the missiles. Flood a cockpit without seriously damaging the armor. Cool.
