I have something constructive to say . At least they didnt't just end battletech altogether. Now we hae something, good or bad, to look foward too everything changes either for the better or worse but the worst change that could have happened would be the end of new batletech material. At least that didn't happen.

Here, here to that!

Some people are calling it "clickity tech" and worse, but quite frankly, the games, while based in the same universe, have completely different aims. CBT has a TREMENDOUS amount of detail about each Mech. i.e. how many hand actuators does it have, what type of ammo, MASC, CASE, Streak SRMS, etc. MW:DA, while detailed, trades level of detail for speed of play.
This allows significantly larger forces to come into play, as well as allowing for a DIVERSE force.
While some will argue that CBT offers diversity, I would argue that the game does not justify or reward its use. Why spent points on infantry when a light mech will work just fine?
Certainly, the battle mech is the primary focus of CBT, that is not a realistic portrate of use of force. In addition, CBT tends to bog down when large forces are employed...i.e. three or more lances/ galaxies are used.
MW:DA promotes a diverse force, with battlemechs as the "heavy artillery" so to speak. In addition, you can use large force (say 20+ units on a side) without it taking the entire weekend to play the game (a large game like that might take 3 hours depending on the players).
That's really the bottom line...detail versus speed of play. I enjoy both types of games myself. Although, too much detail tends to burn me out after a while. I can imagine that the mech's arm falls off by the decreased offensive capability of the mech, I don't need a record sheet, 10 die roles, and damage allocation charts to lay it out for me.
I also think that the combat dial is a slick game mechanic. While convienient as a record keeping device, it is much more. Having equipment effects "turn on" and "off" as you run the gamit of the dial is an elegant way to create a variety of game effect not really possible any other way (or a record keeping nightmare).
I love CBT, and I expect to enjoy MW:DA as well. I think both games will be around for years to come. As I post around the net I am excited by all the new players looking forward to this game. I'm talking about the computer gamers, who have played over the internet for years, and those that use to paly CBT but didn't have the time to devote to painting and playing, etc.
Bottom line, when people get together, socialize, and have a good time playing a game, that's good for all gamers. Having read the rules, and being familiar with Mage Knight, I can see that MW:DA will do that.

Wizkids game title MechWarrior: Dark Age [MW:DA] is comely referred to as "Clicky-Tech". It is a minitures based game with combat dials that click.

BattleTech as we know is now called offically titled "Classic BattleTech" [CBT] and is supported by FanPro. It is a board game based on hexes commonly played with both minitures, both plastic and metal, as well as cardboard figures. It can be converted in a pure miniture combat system. There are currently four editions with the first edition originally entitled "BattleDroids". It also has three levels of technology/play.

Mechwarrior is also an RPG that fits into the CBT line. There are currently three edititions.

There is also a serious of computer games entitled Mechwarrior:
Mechwarrior Cresent Hawks
Mechwarrior Cresent Hawks Revenged
Mechwarrior 2
Mechwarrior 2 Ghost Bear's Legacy
Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries
Mechwarrior 3
Mechwarrior 4
Mechwarrior 4 Black Knight

There is also a series of computer games entitled Mechcommander:
MechCommander
MechCommander Gold
MechCommander 2
