KDY-130 Immobolizer

Weight: 65 tons
Chassis: TSi Standard
Power Plant: Skyline 325 XL with MASC
Cruising Speed: 53.75 (102 KPH)
Maximum Speed: 86
Jump Jets: none
Jump Capacity: none
Armor: SPECTRE Stealth armor with CASE
Armament:
2 LRM 15s
3 SRM 2s
1 ER Medium Laser
Manufacturer: TSi
Primary Factory: TSi
Communications System: TDT Com-300 with Angel ECM Suite
Targeting and Tracking System: TDT Omni-Targeting Sys with TAG, Bloodhound Active Probe

Overview:
TSi, the 'mech design branch of Thirdwave Defense Technologies, was in a slump in the middle 3050's. Its popular designs were doing well, but sells were dropping off, and a new design was needed to boost the income. Under directions from the CEO, TSi took a gamble.
There were enough front line Battlemechs on the market, and recon 'mechs were not selling well. TSi looked at what the battle field needed, and came up with the advanced tactical 'mech, the Immobolizer, a design made for its tactical and strategic abilities...not its combat potential.

Capabilities:
At first look, the design would be a waste of time and space. A 65 ton 'mech running at 100kph might be an impressive sight, but if you cant capitalize on the advantages of speed, then there is no purpose of using it. For the Immbolizer, speed is only one factor. The massive XL engine, augmented by advanced Myomer circutry, keeps the 'mech at high speeds through combat. Though lightly armored by most standards, each plate has been specially coated and designed to cloak the 'mech in a stealh mode. Though not invisible, the Immobolizer is hard to target by even the most sophisticated targeting computers.
The equipment package is impressive, allowing for multiple tactical roles, including disruption of enemy communications, blocking C3 signals and preventing almost any kind of electronic warfare near it. This is accomplished by a Angel ECM Suite and a Bloodhoud Active Probe. Finishing the equipment list is a TAG device, mounted right below the cockpit.
Even the installation of weaponry gives the Immobolizer tactical advantages over many 'mechs. The primary weapons, if they can be called that, are a dual rack of LRM-15s. The racks are not usually loaded with standard ammunition tyoes, though. A total of 4 tons has been set aside for LRM ammo on the Immbolizer, and most commanders choose to go for the set up TSi reccomends. 2 tons devoted to the Thunder ammo type, and 2 tons to Swarm missles. This setup can allow the pilot to use several attack stratagies. The secondary weapons spread is a trio of SRM-2 racks, supplied by the ever dangerous Inferno ammo. This tactical weapon was required for installation by the CEO himself, and tests prove his inclusion of the weapon to be a great idea. The Inferno rounds not only provide for great tactical weapons, but also make for an impressive weapon to fight off lighter 'mechs with. The final weapon installed was an ER Medium laser, added for, as the TSi designer put it, pilot comfort.

Deployment:
An interesting 'mech, to say the least, has a hard time fitting in with a unit. Not designed for direct combat, the Immbolizer is best assigned with a fire support lance of LRM or Arrow IV capeable 'mechs. The TAG makes for great Artillery Spotting, and a C3 slave, installed by replacing the Medium laser, provides great tactical advantages when proper systems are turned off.
This 'mech should not be regulated to secondary pilots, as the amount of system
tweaking and instrument adjusting can be overwhelming to most pilots. Special training in each of the major systems is usually required for a pilot to make this 'mech as nearly as effective as it should be.

Battle History:
NO DATA AVILABLE

Known Variants:
The possibility of a C3 version has not escaped TSi. The Medium Laser is usually removed in favor of the system.

Could someone actually say something about this one?

OK, you said to say something...

I think it's horrible.

Its fast but there's no real advantaged gained by that with the weapon load. This thing would be toast on the battlefield, presuming anyone bothered to target it. You say its "a design made for its tactical and strategic abilities" yet I can't see any tactical or strategic reason to use this mech.

Plus for it's ammo load
...dump the Thunder. It hardly ever lands where you want it to (its a base 9 plus the normal artillery mods) and unless its a 20 point minefield most experienced players won't hesitate to run thru that hex with a heavy or assault mech.
...dump the Swarm. Use Swarm-I as they are more friendly to your units.

I give this a "C" for effort, but it's grade is "F" I'm afraid.

To me the Stealth armor has to go...sorry but I have never been a fan of the idea.

I will add more later as I look it over in detail tonight.
