Has anyone used these in combat? If so how have they done?

i tested 1 out.......
did very well. see'in as it never fell down. the fact that a hit can still miss is very evil, and as the front table has 4 locs that hit arms.

Don`t try them against me. I will not accept the excuse that arm hits should miss since they weren`t built with arms. Unless you agree that all hits on missing locations are misses, of course

While I'm not totally proficient with those rules, I believe an arm location is a miss on a mech that was created as an armless mech.

You'd have to be playin' level 3, otherwise you couldn't use an armless mech

we ran a level 3 custom clan match.
we have 3 100 tonners going after a firend of mine.
his too was a 100 tonner but it had no arms, reinforced structure and hardened armor.
it took too long to kill it.
i brought in my uber-munch recarast prime (5 clan LPL's and TC)
this was a sick sick match.....

You would definatly want a good pilot on that 100 tonner with no arms and heavy armor, going down would be down forever.

LOL! Talk about being between a rock and a hard place if that happen!
I feel that the idea of armless mechs fits the lighter ones better, by this I mean the 10-40 ton range.
They are light enough to have the speed to make up for the lack of arms and normally these mechs are scouts anyway so the lack of arms isn't that big of a deal.

Armless 'mechs are great in theory, but the execution of them just downright sucks.
We did use a few for a bit, but we made all arm hits torso hits (just like if you'd transfered the damage). This was so an armless mech wouldn't be unstoppable....
Otherwise they are dang hard to kill.... _________________ Loyalty above all else except honour!

I think the weight savings is an attractive prospect, with the drawback that you are going to have a hell of a time getting upright if you fall.
On playtesting, we have agreed that a hit is always a hit, so no shots fail because they hit a missing arm, they get transferred to the torso.
Anyway, the weight savings allow to add a substantial amount of armor.
