All right, I'll admit it. I've been playing BattleTech for only a few years, so I'm not old school. My question is this, what is TotalCon?
I've seen a couple references to it all around the board, and have no idea what it is.

Many of us, 8 or so, live very close to each other and we all attend TotalCon, which is one of the larger gaming conventions on the east coast.

It's a total blast, 'Recon.
If you're ever able to travel for a few days in late February, it's a fun way to spend a few days. Lots a cool Battetech folks (you might even get to meet the legendary Mordel in person!!!

(snicker) He is usually the only one in the water with the breached center torso...
But yeah TotalCon is alot of fun.. In general we get a few good players, and I think Btech is run in just about every slot. Lately we got a bit away from tactical scenario games and were having alot of fun with Race type, or grand melee type battles. Last year we did have a couple tactical games which went over very well, so maybe we'll see more this year.

There was a minimum of 1 Battletech game per slot at TotalCon, with several slots having 2. My notes show that there was 36 different people playing in the games, not counting lurkers that got "dragged" into games after asking questions. Not a bad number considering that the miniatures area was on the other side of the hotel from the rest of the convention. 
Last year was the "return" of the scenario-type games as everyone that ran had to run a scenario for every "custom" game they did. It worked out to about 50-50 last year because people like Horhiro only run scenarios, so that gave a little leeway for those that didn't have time to play test any scenarios before the submission deadline.
We'll (hopefully) be doing that again next year also

Febuary, eh? I'll try my best to be there. I can't predict the future of course.
You'll know me instantly, I still use the cardboard cutouts I got in the 4th Ed. set.

IIRC the new Btech box set coming out will have more cardboard cutouts, so you'll be able to upgrade!
TotalCon is very fun. I'm hoping that at the new hotel location this year we won't get stuck out in no-man's-land like we have the last few years. Heck, that's a long walk when your loaded up with terrain and lead minis!
