I got to click a new mech at Totalcon last weekend. The mini was actually pretty well put together and the paint job was a bit better than "slop and go".
As Hobbit said, I think it will be a good way to intoduce new kids to the game. The guy with the demo pieces seems to think the game will eventually become more in-depth to allow it to become closer to ClassicBT.
It is too bad it's not on the same scale. They could've also marketed just the bases as a Collectable Game and we could've stuck our own minis on them.

To bad you are not in my neck of the woods. Battle Force, and Succession Wars rock. And the mack daddy is the Solaris rules. Ran a tournement once using Solaris only. That was real cool.

I did the same thing 2 years ago at a con. It was cool to see Stingers, Wasps and Fleas kicking the cans of an Archer and Warhammer.Between cycling their big weapons and dealing with heat, the heavies wound up getting pushed around by the lights.

<S> = Salute Mech-jock`s,
I just stopped in and am glad I did, has been a minute since I have been able to banter some CBT or ANY BT for that matter although I guess I could become "lost" on a site like BadKarma if I wanted to but who`d notice right? I am not sure what this "click-tech" even is yet but I get the drift that most of you hate it and so it must be another sacreligious affair and I will check out the Wizard site to C 4 myself!! Scared 2 look 2 B honest!
Glad I found this place, was really lookin for a walkthru on "Blacknight-Mech4" addon and "Google" pointed me here to you guy`s! Again, nice to have found a board of enthusiast`s of the greatest game ever invented!
<S> McKlair-out!

'Click-tech' is how WK's other game, Mage Knight, is handled. All the data for the unit in question is contained in the base of the mini- every time any damge occurs, the base is rotated (producing a clicking sound) until the appropriate stats appear. While this is supposed to save time and effort, it has the effect of taking the game and reducing the required IQ to play it. (Honestly, as long as people speak up so that I can hear them, I have no problem whatsoever with manually tracking my damage.)

Picking up the playing piece or holding it down to click the base to the new damage is faster? On what planet? Uranus?

Supposedly, each click also brings up new information on the new stats, to-hit rolls, etc. It's aimed at kids with no attention span and the education from a lower-level public school backing them up.

Actually, I think it will also simulate your decrease in offensive potential with the more damage your mech suffers, much like units in BattleForce do.

And we can't make a note on a piece of paper or flip the cardboard counter over to show the same thing?
What are those little circles for again on the mech sheets?

Sad but true. Our culture is so into quick fixes that we have stopped working at problems. Thats why drugs are so prevaliant in our society, and won't go away until we learn that hard work and effort are the answers to problems, not chemicals like Prozac. Look for my essay on the subject as soon as I get it published. I call one chapter "Drug War in a Drug Society" very interesting research.

Well, when I play cribbage I like to use the board and "peg" my points. It is a fact that you can keep a running total of your points on a piece of paper and the first to reach 121 wins. It's all a matter of what you prefer.
On the other hand this new clicktech game will be different from our favorite CBT. This does not however make it better or worse....just different. The game of battletech has taken many forms over the years including the Nova Combat books, AeroTech,BattleSpace, Succession Wars, BattleTroops, MechWarrior RPG, Solaris7 Dueling rules, CCGs, Video Games, Simulators and the such. Some people play CBT on Hex Boards, some on terain using rulers.....let's be honest, anything goes.
This new game, whether you like it or not, will bring new players to the BTech genre keeping it alive and well, and IMHO that in itself makes it worthwhile.

So I presume you've both played the game which hasn't been released yet?
I know I haven't, so I can't make a sensible comment about people that are going to play it. How can you?
