Ironic, isn't it? It was a lawsuit with them that brought FASA down, and now it may be a lawsuit that may bring Harmony Gold down.

I think the modern, new age, fuzzy term is called "Karmic Backlash". I still doubt the Unseen will come back even if the lawsuit is effectively a moot point. The side that wins will want liscensing fees. There is always the added risk of furtther legal wrangling too. I think, that once this is settled, that no one will touch those images. Too much court wrangling over a product can ruin its value.

There may be hope for the unseens after all. As I understand it, way back when a Star Fleet Battles type deal was made with the Macross owners. The orginal mechs used the images of robotech mechs but the rest was all battletech.
When I first learned of the lawsuit and all, I thought that Harmony Gold was that original owner. But since it seems they are not, maybe that old deal can return and the unseens can be brought back since if Harmony Gold did not have the legal rights to begin with than their lawsuit could not be made in the first place.
Hell, maybe the owners of FASA can now sue those bastards for the two million bucks their lawsuit cost FASA on the grounds that they were sueing over something they did not own!

This game would get a HUGE boost if the unseen were to make a comeback.

AniMeigo is saying that the suit's results are only valid in Japan. However, Japan is the country of origin for Macross, so I think that if any other suit in any other nation happened, HG would be on the losing end. Even a non-BTech friend of mine (but still an anime fan) had to admit HG would be screwed if FanPro and WK wanted payback.

And exactly what could they do as "payback"?

Lawsuit on behalf of the late FASA. HG efectively sued concerning legal right to images that they didn't actually possess, driving FASA into the ground. It would depend on how a judge would take it, but HG would most likely get hurt even worse.

Ain't gunna happen...in the first part of their suit against FASA HG had to prove they held the licence that they claimed FASA infringed upon. They did, and they won.
End of story.

Bullshit. Poor management drove FASA into the ground. Remember the sale of FASA interactive to Microsoft paid off their old debts long after the Harmony Gold fiasco.
