I downloaded another game off kazaa, and went to install it and Norton Anti-Virus came up and said the exe to the game was a virus.
Me being the not caring type closed the Norton window and still installed the game... well most of it.
As the game was installing the program froze, since my computer sucks I thought it was just the everyday lag, so I let sit for about 30 minutes.
The program never continued and slowly locked up my whole system, but not before really freaking my out by saying my entire f: was deleted.
So I restarted, and the lag was still there, but so was my f:
Today I started my comp and Kazaa and Norton wont run and I can't delete the game files, and since Norton wont run I can't quronteen them either.
So I need help, any sugestions?

To start Windows XP in Safe mode, single operating system:
Use this method if XP is the only operating system installed on your computer.
1. Start Windows, or if it is running, shut Windows down, and then turn off the computer.
2. Restart the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). What is displayed depends on the BIOS manufacturer. Some computers display a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS, while others may not display any indication that this process is happening.
3. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears.
NOTE: If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers will generate a "keyboard error" message. Please restart, and then try again.
4. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select the Safe mode menu item, and then press Enter.

any suggestions?
How about don't download games off of Kazaa.
If push comes to shove, backup what you can and format the sucker. I had a bad experience with one of those email worms and now I back up everything. Fortunately I found instructions on the internet on how to manually remove the worm and fix my registry. Maybe something similar exists for your virus. Check on a friends computer if you have the time.

Yes. XP comes with a wonderful program called "System Restore" You'll find it in Programs/Accessories/System Tools file. Click on it and let it do what it is supposet to do. I suggest you pick the day before you loaded the game.
System restore will start over from that point in the day it backed up your computer. I call this the do over button!

Windows ME also has that feature, and I've had to use it on a couple of occasions.

System Restore is wonderful, as long as you have a recent back-up point. It sucks when the last one is from two weeks ago and your Windows tries in vain to load the programs you`ve already uninstalled.

I really wonder if i'm the only one here who is either lucky or paranoid enough to have never gotten a virus.
Raven, virus free, with almost 8 years on the internet!

Ditto. I've never had any problems with viruses. Then again, I don't do much downloading...

Wasn't a virus, I had a power faliure here for just long enough to shut down my PC--in the middle of a Windows update!
My maching would only start in safe mode because some start up files got damaged, so I restored to the day before the failure and everything was fine.
