I will not be saying ANYTHING about the movie so dont worrly about that.
I was lucky enought to catch the Midnight showing of LoTR Two Towers.
The movie was, well... just WOW!
Admitedly it did seem to drag here and there but it was all important to the movie, and the flow of events.
All in all the movie was (looks in a thesaurus for an approiate work, and finding none) Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible, and just down right WOW!
These are easily becomming my favorite series of all time. So before I break my promise I will not say anything else because I might just start telling you about the movie
And again just WOW!

Question for you...and cause it does contain spoilers to those who havent read the books...i'll skip a lot...
Did they build up to Gandalf's return nicely? It really pissed me off when they showed him in the previews.
Also...how were the ents?

WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! WOW! I just don't know what else to say. . .
Well I jsut got back from seeing the movie. Just when you start to believe that a sequel is never as good let alone better than the original, Peter Jackson (the god of diectors IMNSHO) out does himself again. The action sequences are awesome, words fail to describe them. And the other scenes are even better. Sam's speech at the end i think is one of the best in the history of movies. Sean Austin did a great job there. I don't know who here has seen or heard about the petition that was going around to get the name of the movie changed from the Two Towers, on the grounds that it would bring back all kinds of sorrow and negative sentiments form September 11th 2001. I had read the petition and the rational behind it, just the other day. And when Sam was giving his motivational speech to Frodo, I couldn't help thinking to myself this is exactly why these people are a bunch of messed up morons. I also really liked the interaction between Legolas and Gimli. It really helped to to lighten the mood just enough during the dark part of the movie, and keep spirits high for those around them.
Spoiler AHEAD
Gimli: Legolas, I've already got two.
Legolas: I've already killed seventeen.
Later on . . .
Gimli: You'll have to toss me.
Aragorn: (shocked and speechless)
Gimli: I can't jump that far. You'll have to toss me. Don't tell the elf.
Aragorn: (tosses Gimli into the mass of orcs pressing the gate of Helm's Deep and leaps after him.)

I saw it today, and thought it was great! Cool fight scenes (like in the trailer!).
And as for your questions, no not much of a bulid up for Gandalf, but, the Ents were pretty cool.

Yeah agreed the buildup was minor for Gandalf, and the Ents just flat out ROCKED.

Sequel? what sequal?
The Two Towers is in no way a sequal for The Fellowship of the Ring. So many people mess up on this simple fact, the Lord of the Rings is ONE long movie. It has three parts yes, but they all form the SINGLE movie.
Unlike Star Wars, were each movie is a seperate movie of a common time line. Lord of the Rings is one continues movie... released to use in bits, like a good anime [or tv] series.
Now as for this part, it was great...
i think i like the whole Smeegal aurgument scene. the camera work just made it that much better.

And before someone says 'trilogy', Tolkien really disliked that word. He wouldn`t have published the work like that if he`d owned the publishing house. It was just one long story according to him.

I have to agree that work out really well, much better than the very similar scene is Spiderman, between the Green Goblin and Osborn. Who ever did this definitely deserves on Oscar or something of that magnitude. Hell they all deserve them. The entire cast and crew.

I went and watched it again (A rarity for me since I absolutely HATE movietheaters) and it was still as good as the first time. (I didnt really have anydoubt )
And I noticed, that half way through I really forgot that Smeegal was computer animated.
My god that movie rocked!

I thought I heard somewhere that in his one he was more real than CGI. Though I could very well be mistaken.

From what I saw it was sort of done like the JarJar binks stuff. But I may have misunderstood as well

The TNT special the other night talked about how the voice actor for him was so good at performing him during the shooting (ie, his moments and expressions and what not) that they took the original ideas for him, and changed them, incorporating the actor's movements and expressions into the CGI...
In essence, while the body itself was CG, it was just superimposed over a real life actor...
