Let's be honest here AWAD, the Locust should not even be called a BATTLEmech! it should be called a SCOUTmech or perhaps an INFANTRY STOMPINGmech, cause the thing should never actually get into battle! As for real men piloting it I have to agree, except you forgot the adjective.....real stupid men. Hell, I'd rather be in an infantry platoon with srm inferno's than pilot one of those bucket-o-junks.

My first ever exposure to the game was back in '86 at a friend's house. I had a Rifleman and he had a Warhammer and we played as Wolf's Dragoons. (Although thinking about how quickly we got killed, the Dragoons would never have let us in! )

Then a few years later I played again with some Army guys from my unit, and I took out a Dervish. I just thought the mini looked cool. I went down when one of the guys maxed out his heat scale in an Grasshopper hitting everone on the field with his PPCs, then exploding in the hex next to me when his ammo cooked off.

Now, I pilot a Lyran Banshee (with two PPCs), again, just because the mini looks cool.

The Atlas was the first mech I ever piloted, I seemed to have a knack for cockpit shots with the Large Lasers... then in about my third game I took a hit to the head from a guass rilfe.

I still pilot an Clan tech equipped Atlas ever but usually you can find me in a Battlemaster.

Be nice to the Locust. Y'know, its not the mech, its the pilot(except for some very obvious cases *cough* urbie *cough*). An elite pilot in a locust can take down a green pilot in a daishi (trust me, I ALMOST pulled it off)

As you are new here I will ignore the insult at my little Urbie, but you won't be as fortunate next time!

I remember back to those days. My brother was teaching me how to play, and he wanted the battle to be short because I was just an annoying little brother and I bugged him until he taught me. I was in a Locust and he was in a Panther. Heh, I think I know why I got cleaned out...

Things are different now. He thinks its stupid and doesn't play anymore. I now pilot my great-great-great......great grandfather's Star League Black Knight. Wouldn't leave it for a billion C-Bills and a MadCat (ok, maybe I would. heehee)

Very few rock fields in a city, which is where my beloved Urbie does it's best.

Hey I'm not ashamed to admit that on more than one occasion in an urban fight I've had an Urbie get me.... ofcourse in every example I was in an already badly damaged mech, but hey thats what the Urbie is designed for.

Correct, that is exactly what the Urbie is used for. Most look at a mechs' ability to duel to determine if its a good mech. There are tons of great mechs (Archer, Rifleman, Shadow Hawk, etc...) that totally suck when dueling, but when used in their correct roles kick ass.

The power of the Swarm... Locusts when driven well can kill mechs 3 or 4 times their size easily.

They also can be incredibly effective against infantry and tanks.

Locust was first mech I ever drove. Pheonix Hawk was second..

Well using that logic..... should a Typhoon be called a tank or wheeled attack vehicle? Is the Charger a Battlemech or a Scout Mech... or a POS?

My very first game I had ever played involved my PC from Lyran Commonwealth in a VLK-QA Valkyrie then the SHD-2H Shadow Hawk. They've been my personal favorites until I got my Emperor. Now they are my second favorites.
