This is my attempt to update the Whitworth with little new tech. At this time, I don't have the cost or BV available.
Whitworth WTH-4
Alterations:
1. Trade structure for Endo Steel (Locations: 2 each in each torso, and 4 in each arm.)
2. Trade heat sinks for 10 Double
3. Replace 2 LRM 10s with 4 LRM 5s. (there's a reson for this)
4. Add .5 tons of armor (2 points on each limb)
5. Add hands (also a reason for this)
6. Installation of a full-head ejection system.
This leaves you with 2.5 spare tons. To deal with this, I have two subvarients.
4A adds a medium laser to each arm, with the .5 tons being loose.
4B adds a ton of LRM ammo to each side torso, with the .5 tons being loose.
By switching to the 4 LRM 5 racks, the missile capabilities are harder to stop. Instead of two criticals to silence the launchers, it takes four. From experience, by the time a mech has taken its fourth critical hit it's usually dead anyway. Also, it confuses AMS gear. The hands are an added safety and utility feature. The 4A model is to allow the mech to have punch at all ranges. The LRMs chip away from range, while anyone foolish enough to close gets 5 medium lasers to deal with rather than the stock 3. The 4B is for use as a long-range harrasser and for fire support, gaining more ammo for little loss.

You should at least put CASE in a torso if you are going to be hanging loose with half a ton.

Actually, I did have a CASE in each side torso and still had the 2.5 tons.
I write too small.
